Driver seriously hurt as van hits stopped car on M1

A driver suffered serious injuries when a van crashed into a stationary car on the M1 in Derbyshire, police have said.

Derbyshire Police said the white Skoda Superb had stopped on lane three of the northbound carriageway near junction 29, when it was struck by a silver Vauxhall Vivaro van shortly after 09:00 BST on Monday.

The Skoda driver was taken to hospital where he remains with serious injuries, while the Vauxhall driver stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their inquiries.

No arrests have been made, but the force has appealed for dashcam footage.
