Search for suspects after shot heard near school
GooglePolice are hunting for suspects who led them on an eight-mile (12.8km) car chase after reports of shots being heard near a school.
Officers from Bedfordshire Police were called to Grebe Drive, Leighton Buzzard, shortly before 15:30 BST on Wednesday with reports of a firearm being discharged.
As a precaution, nearby Greenleas School went into lockdown for a short time.
Officers identified a car, thought to be at the scene of the incident, but it failed to stop, prompting a chase that ended when the vehicle crashed in Dunstable and the suspects fled on foot.
One man was treated for minor injuries when the car crashed into an unrelated vehicle on Porz Avenue in Dunstable.
The road was closed between Boscombe Way and the Lovatt Road roundabout while emergency services dealt with the collision.
In a statement on its website, the school confirmed it would reopen on Thursday and thanked children, staff and parents "for their composure and calm during the incident".
Officers would remain in the area, the force said.
