Ceremonial sword cuts 80th birthday cake
Cornwall Rural Community CharityMore than 100 staff got together to celebrate a community charity's 80th anniversary.
Members of the Cornwall Rural Community Charity (CRCC), who were joined by its Swindon Carers Together team, aim to help communities through education and training.
According to CRCC, the charity helps reduce isolation, improve wellbeing, secure funding and strengthen community resilience.
A highlight of the get-together at the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall saw the charity's patron and Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall Col Sir Edward Bolitho use a family ceremonial sword to cut a commemorative anniversary cake.
Among those attending during the event on 3 November were long-serving employees Adam Strowger and Perran Tremewan, who have each worked for the charity for 20 years, and Gemma Finnegan, who has been with the organisation for 15 years.
Chief executive Katherine Nissen said: "This staff day was a very special one to commemorate our 80th anniversary."
"For eight decades, CRCC has worked alongside communities to help people and places thrive and that work is only possible because of the dedication, expertise and compassion of our people."
Sir Edward said: "It was a privilege to join the team for CRCC's 80th anniversary celebrations."
He added: "All of Cornwall should be proud of what CRCC has achieved and will I know continue to achieve in the future."
