Police have appealed for information after two men wearing balaclavas damaged three vehicles with a baseball bat in a village in Leicestershire.

Leicestershire Police said two men wearing balaclavas got out of a white car and approached the vehicles parked in a layby in Coventry Road (B4114), near the junction with Leicester Road in Sapcote, between 19:15 GMT and 19:30 on Saturday.

The force said damage was caused to the vehicles with a baseball bat and homophobic abuse was shouted.

An occupant of one of the vehicles also suffered a small wound to his chest, which police said was believed to have been caused by a ball bearing fired from a catapult.

Det Sgt Fraser MacIntosh said: "There is a possibility they may have approached others and carried out similar offences so we would be keen to speak to anyone who may have also been a victim and has not made contact with us or anyone who maybe saw them travelling around the area at this time.

"If you have a dashcam in your vehicle, we would encourage you to check your footage to see if it captured something related to these incidents.

"Any information you may have could be of importance to our inquiries so please get in touch."
