Part of the M2 that was closed overnight for emergency repair works after days of disruption has reopened on Friday.

Sections of the motorway between Chatham and Sittingbourne had been closed since Tuesday evening after an incident in which a pedestrian died.

They were closed again on Thursday evening for what a National Highways spokesperson called "emergency resurfacing works".

All lanes of the coastbound carriageway reopened at 05:00 GMT following the overnight works, after the motorway closed at 20:00 GMT on Thursday.

It is understood that police investigation work at the site has concluded, but detectives said they wanted witnesses to the crash, including anyone with dashcam footage, to get in contact.

The man's next of kin has been informed, Kent Police added.
