Firework displays delayed due to shipping problems
Douglas CouncilFirework displays in Douglas and Ramsey have been postponed by several weeks after problems transporting fireworks to the Isle of Man.
Ramsey's display, originally due to take place on 31 October, will now be held on 21 November, while Douglas's event has been moved from 5 November to 26 November.
Both displays will now help mark the start of the festive season, with Douglas staging a Christmas-themed fireworks display and Ramsey's taking place the night after the town's Christmas lights switch-on.
Ramsey Town Commissioners said its contractor warned of "issues transporting the fireworks", while Douglas City Council cited "issues affecting the transportation", but neither gave further details.
Douglas City Council's display will begin at 19:00 on Thursday 26 November, the first evening of late-night Christmas shopping in the city.
The council said it was "delighted to confirm a new date" and thanked people for their patience and understanding.
It said the event would be the city's first Christmas-themed fireworks display, following the Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday 21 November.
Ramsey's display will be held in Mooragh Park at 19:30 GMT on Saturday 21 November, with entertainment at the Lakeside Centre from 18:00 GMT.
Margaret Webb, lead member for parks and leisure at Ramsey Town Commissioners, said the event was "always very popular" and the weekend would give visitors the chance to explore the town's independent shops and hospitality venues.
Where else to see fireworks displays
Several other public displays are still going ahead as planned.
Peel Town Commissioners will hold its display in Peel Bay on Friday 30 October.
On Saturday 7 November, displays will take place at Laxey Valley Gardens, run by Garff Commissioners, and at Glen Mona Community Field, organised by Maughold Parish Social Club.
Baccahs Hockey Club will also hold a display that evening at Cronkbourne Cricket Club in Douglas.
