A man has been convicted of manslaughter after carrying out a serious assault on his victim outside a row of shops in a town centre.

Andrew Allen, 55, of Severn Road, in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, attacked Scott Lisney, 56, also from the town, at the St Olaves shopping precinct on 26 July 2025.

Allen was initially charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm, but the charge was changed to manslaughter after Lisney died of his injuries in the West Suffolk Hospital three days later.

Following a trial at Peterborough Crown Court, a jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict before Allen, who remains on bail, was told he would be sentenced on Friday.

Lisney's family described him as a "kind-hearted man who would do anything for anybody".

In a statement they said: "We are saddened by the sudden loss of our Scott, who was a much-loved son, brother, father and uncle.

"He was a much-loved character in the community who was full of fun and a smart and snappy dresser, well known for wearing his suits.

"We are all feeling a strong sense of loss from the hole that has been left but we would like to thank everybody for their kind words."
