  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:49 BST 27 August

    Orr lbw b Z ul-Hassan 36 (Glam v Hants 77-3)

Nice bit of movement back through the air for Zain ul-Hassan and all Ali Orr's good work this morning is undone in a thud of pad.

That looked out as soon as Orr missed the flick to leg, his choice of shot confirming that the ball angled across him was coming back in.

  2. dropped catch

Boorman dropped on 0published at 12:48 BST 27 August

    Durham v Glos 79-4

Tommy Boorman is the new man in the middle and he's been given a lifetime first ball as Will Rhodes finds the edge, only for Ollie Robinson to put the chance down behind the timbers.

Durham would love a fifth wicket of the morning before tucking into their lunch with renewed gusto.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:44 BST 27 August

    Price c Ackerman b Aldridge 27 (Durham v Glos 79-4)

    Big wicket with lunch looming.

Ollie Price goes for an expansive drive outside off and sends an edge through to Colin Ackermann at second slip.

Not a great decision in the context of the game as he's played nicely.

Kasey Aldridge has the breakthrough and the stand of 66 is broken.

  4. Postpublished at 12:44 BST 27 August

    Yorks 76-2 v Leics

Sam Whiteman is steadily picking up the pace here and pushes a quicker ball from Tom Scriven straight down the ground for four more.

He has slowly blunted the Foxes attack this morning and is beginning to reap the rewards - proper red-ball cricket some might say.

Re Mally of Goole's seagulls. In a village game near Canterbury a mare and her foal wandered over to the pavilion during the tea interval for treats. Some were a bit slow in handing them over so she came into the pavilion

    Andy, Canterbury

This is exactly what I wanted to hear about...

  6. Postpublished at 12:41 BST 27 August

    Yorks 71-2 v Leics

Alex Green may only be 19 but he's a proper unit and the Peterborough-born bowler is getting the occasional slice of nasty bounce out there.

James Wharton can't resist a tempter wide of off-stump, but flashes and misses.

A single apiece from Wharton (41) and Sam Whiteman (22) and the partnership goes to 65.

  7. Postpublished at 12:40 BST 27 August

    Glam v Hants 68-2

Loose first over from Dan Douthwaite who strays down leg first ball and is clipped for four by Jake Lehmann.

He oversteps with his fourth ball and is belted straight for four by Ali Orr.

He then goes too full outside off and is blathered through cover by Orr for another boundary.

  8. Postpublished at 12:40 BST 27 August

    Durham v Glos 78-3

Kasey Aldridge into the attack for the hosts, with Ben Stokes, Brydon Carse and Matty Potts seen off by this stoic stand from Ollie Price and James Bracey, which is now worth 65 as the skies lighten in the north east.

  9. 'It never rains but it pours'published at 12:38 BST 27 August

    Glamorgan v Hampshire 58-2

    Kevan James

    Poor Hampshire.

They need wins and plenty of them to survive in the division.

They arrived in Cardiff with batters out of form and next to no batting points this season.

Overcast conditions, ripe for bowling and what happens? They lose the toss and are inserted.

When things aren’t going your way, they don’t go your way.

The ball has nipped, seamed and swung under overcast skies. The wicket is green too.

It never rains but it pours!!

As a follower of Sussex cricket since the days of Ted Dexter I am grateful to the two Somerset batsmen who have hoicked legside balls to the long leg fielder. Sussex need all the help they can get at the moment.

  11. Postpublished at 12:34 BST 27 August

    Glam v Hants 53-2

The first sign of sunshine at Sophia Gardens has got to be a decent sign for the Hants batsmen. Ali Orr has moved to 24 from 59 balls and Jake Lehmann is on 7.

Hants have touched and passed their first milestone with 50 on the board. Timm van der Gugten has been seen off and Dan Douthwaite replaces him.

  12. Early lunch at Derbyshirepublished at 12:33 BST 27 August

    Derbyshire v Middlesex

No play this morning in the Division Two clash at Derb-ados.

They'll have their lunch now and hope for more luck this afternoon.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:32 BST 27 August

    Vaughan c Unadkat b Hunt (Sussex v Somerset 59-4)

A fourth wicket and now Sussex on top at Hove.

But bizarrely, it’s the second catch of the morning at long leg!

Archie Vaughan this time flicks a full, leg side delivery, like Tom Lammonby earlier, straight to the fielder in the deep.

  14. Postpublished at 12:29 BST 27 August

    Yorks 61-2 v Leics

Tom Scriven is not taking a breather, he's just switched to the Peasholm Park End.

He replaces Josh Hull whose four-over burst leaked 21 overs.

The Foxes bowler goes too full and Sam Whiteman helps himself to another boundary.

  15. Postpublished at 12:27 BST 27 August

    Durham v Glos 61-3

Durham just getting a little frustrated.

Three wickets in the opening 20 minutes, nothing in the 65 since.

Ollie Price has 25* and James Bracey 27* but the latter almost chops on off Matty Potts, bouncing it over the top of his stumps.

Hands on heads in the Durham cordon.

  16. Toss at Chelmsfordpublished at 12:25 BST 27 August

    Essex v Surrey

    Now then.

Toss will be at 13:00 BST at Chelmsford with play due to begin at 13:30 - barring further weather, of course.

75 overs are on the slate for the remainder of the day in what could be a very big match indeed.

  17. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 12:24 BST 27 August

    Yorks 56-2 v Leics

Just the two overs from Tom Scriven as Ian Holland shuffles his attack again and brings on 19-year-old Alex Green.

Sam Whiteman clips his second ball past mid-on for a first boundary from his 47 deliveries. Patient stuff from the Yorkshire batter.

James Wharton is then up on his toes and tucks single into the legside which brings up the fifty partnership for the third wicket.

Lovely stand thus far from 94 balls.

Commentator said the seagulls at Scarborough are a great site. Not when they dive bomb you they're not!

Further to my earlier message, at Glamorgan they have now announced that due to the time lost to bad light lunch will be taken at 1.02pm! You can’t even bowl an over in 2 mins

    David, Cardiff...

No, but it only takes one ball to take a wicket, David. Keep the faith...

  20. Good toss to winpublished at 12:18 BST 27 August

    Durham v Glos 54-3

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

When I woke up this morning it didn't half look gloomy on the Roker Riviera. And indeed on the way in to CLS the gloom didn't appear to lift.

My main concern around 9.30am was whether the light would be good enough to allow play to start on time - even with the floodlights on. And with a boundary of just 55 yards to the castle side of the ground - and a greentop with 12mm of grass on it - the toss was also important!

So, toss won and lights on, Durham duly put Gloucestershire in and had them struggling on 13-3 after 5.3 overs.

Brydon Carse seemed to have shrugged off the headlines of the weekend with two wickets in his first three overs, bowling Joe Phillips for two and Miles Hammond for one.

Matty Potts then had Cameron Bancroft caught at first slip by David Bedingham on one.

Things have settled a little since then thanks to a stand of 41 from Ollie Price and James Bracey.

Meanwhile apologies for the lack of commentary so far from The Riverside today. We are having technical difficulties which will hopefully be sorted soon.
