  1. 100 runs

    100 partnershippublished at 14:12 BST 27 August

    Yorks 107-2 v Leics

Sam Whiteman (39) and James Wharton trade singles off Josh Davey (57) to bring up their century partnership.

Coming together in just the fourth over, the pair have looked rarely flustered after early wobbles and bring up the landmark in 193 balls.

  2. Postpublished at 14:09 BST 27 August

    Yorks 104-2 v Leics

With the third-wicket stand approaching 100, Leicestershire captain Ian Holland asks the umpires to have a look at the ball.

It's only 35 overs old, but nonetheless has been judged to have gone out of shape.

A replacement is fetched and Josh Davey will have first go with it.

  3. Pitch inspection at Wantage Roadpublished at 14:04 BST 27 August

    Northants v Kent

There will be a second pitch inspection at 14:45 BST.

If there's no further rain the plan will be for play to commence at 15:15 BST.

  4. 100 runs

100 up for Yorkshirepublished at 14:01 BST 27 August

    Yorks 101-2 v Leics

Ian Holland nips one away a tad and James Wharton gets a thick enough outside edge to evade the slips and run down to the third man boundary.

Sam Whiteman has been watchful but then wafts at a very wide delivery and is thankful to find only fresh air.

Composure is swiftly recovered as a sweet piece of timing brings him three through the covers and takes the hosts to three figures in the 34th over.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:01 BST 27 August

    Ahmed c Aldridge b Pottts 17 (Durham v Glos 109-6)

Daz Ahmed feels he has to drive at this one from Matty Potts outside off and he nicks through to Kasey Aldridge at second slip, giving the Durham man his second scalp.

Mitch Killeen is the new man for Glos, returning to his former club. He gets a warm welcome from his former teammates. Verbally, at least.

Durham will want these last four wickets before tea.

  6. Postpublished at 13:56 BST 27 August

    Durham v Glos 109-5

The going remains slow at CLS as James Bracey and Daz Ahmed try to see off a fresh spell from Brydon Carse and Matty Potts.

Ahmed has pulled just short of Ben Stokes at deep square, but is playing positively despite the pressure.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:56 BST 27 August

    Brown b Hamza (Glam v Hants 107-5)

Ben Brown is playing away from his body somewhat uncertainly and he has inside edged this on to his off stump.

There was a bit of heat in that delivery from Mir Hamza but it was more that Brown was caught between a leave or a push.

The former would have been the better option but, in truth, he may have struggled to get all of the bat inside it.

  8. 'A good fifty from Wharton'published at 13:55 BST 27 August

    Yorks 93-2 v Leics

    David Townsend
    BBC Radio Leeds

He's been the more expansive of the two, and played some very nice shots. A good fifty.

Head down now and make it important.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:54 BST 27 August

    Rew c Simpson b Hunt 12 (Sussex v Somerset 96-5)

A wicket for Sean Hunt with his ninth ball after the break.

And a big strike too as James Rew goes cheaply.

Superb delivery, angled in, forces the lefty to play, then straightens to take the outside edge behind.

Exactly how they tell you to do it at bowling school.

Sussex must really fancy getting through Somerset now.

  10. 50 runs

50 for James Whartonpublished at 13:51 BST 27 August

    Yorks 91-2 v Leics

James Wharton picked up fifty in the reverse fixture at Grace Road and repeats the trick here.

Spritely running between the wickets gives him a single off Josh Davey and takes him to his 16th first-class fifty off 79 balls, including five boundaries.

It's been a positive, but reasonably risk-free knock thus far and just what Yorkshire needed.

    Can he go on?

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:48 BST 27 August

    Burns lbw b Porter 6 (Essex v Surrey 16-1)

Straight, back of a length, rap on the pad and Jamie Porter sends the Surrey skipper Rory Burns on his way for a first breakthrough of the morn... er afternoon.

Burns is not totally convinced but there is not much in it and you suspect the umpire's call would have come into it on impact but it would have been hitting.

  12. Postpublished at 13:48 BST 27 August

    Sussex v Somerset 93-4

Back underway at Hove and Henry Crocombe opens the afternoon session with a maiden to Tom Abell.

  13. Pitch inspection at New Roadpublished at 13:47 BST 27 August

    Worcs v Lancs

Slightly more encouraging news from Worcester where a pitch inspection has been set for 14:45 BST, provided no more rain falls in the meantime.

  14. Close of play at Derbypublished at 13:46 BST 27 August

    Derbyshire v Middlesex

    Oh dear.

Day one of the Division Two match is a total washout.

    We'll try again tomorrow.

  15. Postpublished at 13:46 BST 27 August

    Yorks 90-2 v Leics

Josh Davey, the man who made things happen this morning, opens proceedings for Leicestershire.

Lovely start to the session for James Wharton whose immediately into his work, stroking the first ball for four.

  16. Back on at Sophia Gardenspublished at 13:45 BST 27 August

    Glam v Hants 98-4

And we start with a play and a miss from Jake Lehmann as Mir Hamza fires a loosener down and the Hants man responds with one of his own.

  17. 100 runs

up for Glospublished at 13:45 BST 27 August

    Durham v Glos 100-5

Daz Ahmed crunches a short ball from Matty Potts away to the fence with aplomb and then inside edges across his own stumps to run a single to bring up the Glos 100.

Their match, and maybe their season, in microcosm.

  18. Afternoon session begins at Scarboroughpublished at 13:43 BST 27 August

    Yorks 84-2 v Leics

Yorkshire have battled back well after slumping to 6-2 through James Wharton and Sam Whiteman.

They resume their unbroken 78-run stand, with Wharton six runs shy of his half-century.

  19. Afternoon session begins at CLSpublished at 13:42 BST 27 August

    Durham v Glos 95-5

Daz Ahmed (7*) and James Bracey (44*) are back in the middle.

Durham have the help of a green top, leaden skies and the lights on as they try to prise out the remaining five wickets.

Matty Potts takes the ball for the opening over of the session.

Not sure i agree with Baker being eligible to replace a player for a non injury related reason. Being selected for England is part of county cricket and teams should factor it in. What if Glamorgan prepared for a team without him in it?

    Jonny, Sussex

It's a valid point, and it feels that things have got a little out of hand this year, but what is the solution?

Should England simply name a squad of 12?

Also wondering if Sam Cook and Ollie Pope have shared a ride to Chelmsford? Car pooling?
