  1. Postpublished at 15:49 BST 27 August

    Durham 36-2 v Glos 137

Double change for Glos as James Hayes and Mitch Killeen send down their first overs for the club, after joining on loan ahead of the game.

Killeen will be disappointed, in a way, that his mate Ben McKinney is no longer out there. They grew up together, came through the Durham academy together, and played for England under-19s together.

Hat-trick for Henry Crocombepublished at 15:47 BST 27 August

Leach c Simpson b Crocombe (Sussex v Somerset 202 all out)

    He’s done it!

Jack Leach nicks a full length ball behind, little he could do, and Henry Crocombe has a hat-trick!

What a way to finish the innings off.

No late order rally for Somerset this week and they’re all done for 202. Crocombe with 5-56.

    Tea now at Hove.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:46 BST 27 August

    Pretorius c Haines b Crocombe (Sussex v Somerset 202-9)

Migael Pretorius goes first ball and now Henry Crocombe is on a hat-trick!

Full ball, Pretorius drives firmly at it and edges low to third slip.

    Another good catch.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:46 BST 27 August

    Ul-Hassan lbw b Abbott 0 (Glam 2-3 v Hants 162)

And a battling, gritty innings comes to an end. It took 17 balls to prise Zain ul-Hassan from the cease but prise Kyle Abbott has, pinning the opener in his crease with a delivery that angles in.

This is a disastrous start from the hosts who still trail by 160.

  5. Pitch inspection at New Roadpublished at 15:44 BST 27 August

    Worcs v Lancs

There'll be another inspection at 16:00 BST at Worcester.

You feel this one might just be pivotal for the chances of play on the opening day.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:44 BST 27 August

    Overton c Simpson b Crocombe (Sussex v Somerset 202-8)

But Craig Overton is also now gone!

And have Somerset’s chances of a batting point gone too?

Full ball down the leg side from Henry Crocombe, Overton flicks at it and is given out caught behind. He doesn’t like it.

  7. Postpublished at 15:43 BST 27 August

    Durham 31-2 v Glos 137

Beautiful batting has been in short supply with these conditions at CLS, but David Bedingham has produced a sumptuous swish through mid-wicket off JT Langridge for his first boundary. All wrist.

He showcases a different skill two balls later with a swivelling pull for his second four, while he flashes a thick edge past the slips to make it three boundaries in four balls.

All of a sudden he's on to 15*.

  8. 200 runs

up for Somersetpublished at 15:43 BST 27 August

    Sussex v Somerset 202-7

Jack Carson floats one up as we tick towards tea and Josh Shaw belts it over his head for six!

What a strike and brings the 200 up for Somerset.

Craig Overton still there on 54, having gone to fifty in 67 balls.

  9. Bad light stops play and teapublished at 15:35 BST 27 August

    Yorks 144-5 v Leics

Umpires convene at ScarboroughImage source, Shutterstock

The crowd is not happy, but the umpires get together and decide the light is not fit for play.

They will take an early tea and hope the conditions improve.

Play will resume at 15:47 if so.

  10. 'That was a soft dismissal'published at 15:32 BST 27 August

    Yorks 144-5 v Leics

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Leicester commentator

A wild flay from Jonny Bairstow and he has to go. Not the best shot from the former England batsman.

Josh Hull has got a wicket out of nowhere and Leicestershire have got three wickets in short order.

That was a soft dismissal that has let Leicestershire back into the game.

Staffordshire-born Sydney Barnes and Wales-born Roman Walker

It's not often you hear the name S F Barnes these days - the great England fast bowler of the early years of the 20th Century, Sydney Barnes, who made the vast majority of his 27 Test appearances while playing primarily as a league player, in Lancashire.

But Shropshire's former Glamorgan and Leicestershire fast bowler Roman Walker this week brought him to mind.

Walker became the first player in Minor Counties/National Counties cricket history to take seven or more wickets in an innings in three consecutive matches since Barnes did so for Staffordshire - way back in August 1929.

Barnes made the first three of his 27 Test appearances as a Lancashire player, taking 19 wickets in three matches down under in the Ashes series of 1901/02, then added seven more the following summer in the third Test against Australia at Bramall Lane, Sheffield.

But it was as a Staffordshire player, also playing Lancashire League cricket for Church, in Oswaldtwistle, that he claimed most of his 189 Test wickets - at an average of just 16.43.

It might be a rain-affected day - but any excuse to recall his extraordinary story really.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:30 BST 27 August

    Gregory c & b Clark (Sussex v Somerset 191-7)

    Lewis Gregory gone first ball!

Tom Clark on a hat-trick… but Josh Shaw survives!

It was a firm drive from Gregory but in the air and Clark gets down really sharply by his right knee to take it with two hands.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:30 BST 27 August

    Carlson c Lehmann b Jack 0 (Glam 0-2 v Hants 162)

What a start for Hants. It's two in four balls.

Eddie Jack produces a near carbon copy of the first wicket, getting one to spit and lift off the pitch and take the shoulder of Kiran Carlson's bat and it flies to Jake Lehmann at third slip.

There was a bit of work for the fielder to do but he takes a step to his right and dives to take the catch two-handed.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:30 BST 27 August

    Bairstow c Tattersall b Hull 1 (Yorks 144-5 v Leics)

Yorkshire are in trouble once again.

A shot that Jonny Bairstow will NOT want to see again as he flashes at a ball outside off stump and edges through to Jonny Tattersall. He goes for one.

That's a fourth catch for the wicketkeeper who is having a day out against his former employers.

From nowhere, the hosts have lost three wickets for 23 runs.

    George Hill is in.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:29 BST 27 August

    McKinney c Phillips b Ahmed 8 (Durham 16-2 v Glos 137)

    Bad balls get good wickets.

Ben McKinney tries to slap the cover off a pretty rank short ball from Daz Ahmed but as he tries to pull into the leg side can only sky the ball off a top edge, allowing Joe Phillips to take a fine catch over his shoulder running away behind the slips.

David Bedingham joins Will Rhodes in the middle.

the young Glos bowlers have their tails up.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:28 BST 27 August

    Tribe c Lehmann b Jack 0 (Glam 0-1 v Hants 162)

Early breakthrough with Eddie Jack finding the edge of Asa Tribe's bat and the catch flying high to Jake Lehmann at third slip.

Just the start Hants needed. Kiran Carlson comes to the crease.

  17. Close of play at Edgbastonpublished at 15:25 BST 27 August

    Warwickshire v Notts

Now this is a real shame.

The shootout between third and first in Division One will now be a three-day match, at best.

We'll try again in the morning.

  18. Postpublished at 15:23 BST 27 August

    Yorks 143-4 v Leics

Josh Hull is back into the Foxes attack after a costly opening spell and serves up a beauty to set batter James Wharton.

Having struggled with his line and length earlier, he finds some awkward extra bounce which Wharton fences at and, to his relief, misses.

Skipper Ian Holland, into his third spell, continues to be tight as he sends down a maiden to Jonny Bairstow.

  19. Early tea at Northamptonpublished at 15:22 BST 27 August

    Northants v Kent

Not quite dry enough for play to begin, so an early tea will be taken at 15:30 BST.

Fingers crossed for play after that.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:17 BST 27 August

    Abell c Tear b Clark (Sussex v Somerset 191-6)

    Big breakthrough for Sussex!

Tom Abell’s fine fightback knock is over as he drives hard at Tom Clark and edges low to slip.

Charlie Tear reacts superbly to take a great catch low down by his left boot.
