Feel like we are a batter short. We have lots of all-rounders but Jordan Cox at five and Sam Curran at six feels a position too high. Pressure on the top four to get the runs. When they don't it is a long tail.

    Gerrard, Cannock

  3. Eng 165-5published at 31 overs

Ben Duckett and Will Jacks work Arafat Minhas for six steady runs off the over.

The pair not going for the big shot yet against the spinner who tore through them on Tuesday.

Did we read the script that they have 50 overs to bat? Doesn't that mean, no more than four wickets down in the first 35 overs and no more than 8 overall? Anything worse than that loses the game.

  5. Eng 159-5published at 30 overs

Haris Rauf sends down a leg-side delivery with the first ball after drinks and Ben Duckett helps it on its way for four.

Pakistan will be happy with the state of play at this stage of the game. England five down, losing Tom Banton, Harry Brook and Joe Root early in the innings. Now Ben Duckett and Will Jacks have to build another partnership.

  7. drinks break

    Eng 151-5published at 29 overs

Arafat Minhas, who took 6-40 against England in Rawalpindi, finally enters the attack.

Ben Duckett, who doesn't fare especially well against left-arm spinners in ODIs, faces five dot balls then takes a single off the final ball of the over.

    The players will take drinks.

Pakistan's quicks have persisted with the short ball during this middle phase and have finally been rewarded with the wicket of Sam Curran.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Sam Curran, why are you taking on the short ball there? We were in such a good position.

A run from each of the next five balls.

    No, passing leg stump.

Shadab Khan was bowling from around the wicket, so it was always going to be a challenge to get the angle right.

    Pakistan lose a review.

Now, have Pakistan got the key wicket of Ben Duckett?

Nothing from the umpire after the England opener is struck on the pad trying to turn Shadab Khan behind square.

Shadab is convinced, Saad Baig behind the stumps isn't interested, Shaheen decides to go for the review.

The trap was set. Sam Curran hooks in the air, and that's exactly what he has done.

It flew down to the fine leg fielder. Disappointing for England.

It won't be a hundred partnership!

Sam Curran takes on Shaheen Shah Afridi's short ball and does really get hold of it, pulling the ball to Salman Agha coming off the ropes at fine leg.

    Here comes Will Jacks.

Reading the comments, the expectation is that England will win every game, never lose wickets unless it’s the ball of the century and they should bowl the opposition out for under 50. People have forgotten how fine the margins are and the difficulty of the game.

    Thanks Tim.

I do like an early Sunday run, but the shift time and the stormy weather conditions rather precluded it this morning.

Much as it's good to get out, I didn't fancy a sudden gust of wind embedding a road sign in my chest.

Over in Lahore, Ben Duckett drives Shadab Khan through the covers for four - this partnership now worth 91 at the end of the over
