Have your say on England men this winter

That was the eighth time Harry Brook has been run out in his international career.

Since his debut only Kusal Mendis (11 times) and Charith Asalanka (nine times) have been out run out more among recognised batters for full member nations.

Completely ridiculous to try and run two there. England are in massive trouble!

A bad winter, bad spring and an average summer. It looks like we're heading into a bad winter again. This has been very, very poor from England for almost a year now.

  3. Eng 30-3published at 6.1 overs

Just seen another angle of Harry Brook's run out and there was a slight slip as he came back for the second which probably cost him that vital yard which would have got him home.

    No dive, though.

Ben Duckett gets which rises off the surface from Shaheen Afridi and he has to defend it off the splice.

Jordan Cox the new batter, incidentally.

Ben Duckett looked as though he meant to hit it up.

That was about six inches over the fielder's head.

That would have been a long slow walk-off if he was caught.

  5. Eng 30-3published at 6 overs

Razaullah into the attack now but no hiding from Ben Duckett to a short ball first up.

His heart would have been his mouth - again - after a top-edge flies for six but he gets away with it as it goes over the fence at fine leg.

Much more convincing from Duckett next ball as he thrashes Razaullah through point for four.

Any chance of a quiet few overs, and a steady rebuild, eh?

This is a nightmare start for England.

Harry Brook is off, and he is gone.

A brilliant piece of wicketkeeping as it was not a direct hit.

Brook is a good six-seven inches from the crease.

Brook well short of his ground.

Razaullah was the fielder down behind square. It was a superb one-handed pick up and throw to the stumps.

The umpire's wanted to check whether Saad Baig had the ball in hand before he broke the stumps and he duly had.

    Huge wicket.

Pakistan are convinced this is out.

  10. Umpire reviewpublished at 5 overs

Shaheen Afridi is bowling smartly here. Putting the ball in some tricky areas, taking a few risks to bring another wicket.

Astute stuff from the left-arm quick.

Harry Brook inside edges his final ball of the over behind square and attempts to come back or a second. Some smart fielding, though, and he looks in a bit of trouble.

Pakistan's players celebrate. It's been sent upstairs.

How can England pick this team after the last game? The sooner they get rid of Brendon McCullum, the better.

    Gary, Perth

  12. Eng 18-2published at 4.2 overs

England captain Harry Brook skips down the pitch and has a bit of an ugly swipe at one jagged across him by Pakistan counterpart Shaheen Afridi.

The tourists, and Brook, need a bit of slow steady for a while here you sense

Brook does well to dig out a yorker from Shaheen next ball.

Ben Duckett is not happy with his bat.

He has carved it through point, and then looked at his bat.

I don't think there is any need for him to get frustrated out there in the middle.

If he can relax, then that will go into his game.

England’s batters look in great nick at picking out fielders for catching practice.

Got out of bed, turned the TV on, made a cuppa and England are two wickets down. The TV is very close to being turned off.

Razaullah bowls a front-foot no-ball but follows it up with a nice bouncer to Ben Duckett, who takes on the hook but is very late.

A couple of deliveries later Duckett takes on the bit of width offered by Razaullah and hits it aerially - perhaps with his heart in his mouth briefly - over point for four.

  16. How stat?!published at 08:21 GMT 25 October

Conditions have generally been good for batting in ODIs in Lahore, with five of the six matches during the 2025 Champions Trophy seeing first innings scores over 300.

In contrast, Australia managed scores of 231/9 and 157 all out batting first here in June.

Not the start England wanted in a must-win game here today.

Again, this is fuller from Shaheen Afridi, which tempts Joe Root into playing the shot.

On his day, it gets carved through the covers for four. It goes to backward point and England find themselves in trouble here.

  18. Eng 11-2published at 3 overs

Harry Brook the new batter. The England captain takes time to compose himself, shadow batting at the crease, before leaving a delivery which swings back in from the left-arm quick and whistles a couple of inches past his off stump.

Shaheen Afridi still getting the ball to hoop, but overpitches to Joe Root - looking for an lbw - but the England batter flicks it off his toes through midwicket for four.

However, next ball Root takes on one slanted across him as he looks to free his arms and ends up slashing it to point where Saim Ayub gobbles up the catch.

England in a bit of trouble.
