Scott Currie away with a loose shot lofting the ball to cover for two.

As a Bear I find myself in the awkward position of supporting the Tykes. Weather forecast for tomorrow looks dodgy, could rain intervene?

    Reece LBW Sanderson 32 (Northants 310 v Derby 372 & 133-5

The partnership broken up. Luis Reece is hit on the roll of his front pad and after some thought umpire Sue Redfern raises her finger. Ben Sanderson has the wicket.

    Derbyshire's lead is 195.

  4. Postpublished at 13:49 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 346-8

We have a pause in play as the umpires have decided to change the ball at Grace Road - one ball into the Ian Holland over.

We're good to go. James Fuller is down the pitch to try and swing the ball away. He misses.

The fourth ball is flicked off the pads to mid on for one.

  5. Postpublished at 13:48 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 229-7 v Somerset 201

Kuldeep Yadav has his first boundary of the innings, flicking Jake Ball off his legs and it just about has enough on it to make it to the rope.

Those are the only runs from the over but they are valuable ones for Yorkshire and frustrating for Somerset.

The hosts lead by 240 at Headingley.

  6. Postpublished at 13:47 BST 17 September

    Sussex 336-6 v Notts 240

Jack Carson isn't hanging about for Sussex since the start of play on day three about 15 minutes ago.

He smashes Mukesh Kumar for four through backward point to pick up the second boundary of the over for the hosts.

Carson then adds a third boundary in fortuitous fashion, edging down to third man.

    Sussex lead by 96.

  7. Postpublished at 13:46 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 342-8

Hampshire's lead is surging past 300 and one suspects we're nearing the limit of what Leicestershire might be comfortable chasing.

James Fuller leaves spinner Ajaz Patel outside off.

He went for 10 in that over. A six was cross-batted by Fuller down the ground - and he also picked up four runs driving to long off.

    312 ahead.

  8. Postpublished at 13:44 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 225-7 v Somerset 201

There are some ominous clouds circling around Headingley. Hopefully nothing too sinister.

New batter Kuldeep Yadav has moved along to three from 10 balls for Yorkshire.

Dom Bess has 72 from 175 deliveries.

  9. Postpublished at 13:42 BST 17 September

    Sussex 323-6 v Notts 240

Jack Carson cuts away the final ball of Olly Stone's over and bang goes the maiden.

Four more for Carson and Sussex lead by 83 runs.

  10. Postpublished at 13:40 BST 17 September

    Sussex 319-6 v Notts 240

Great fielding out in the deep by Olly Stone to race around and deny a boundary on the slide after Jack Carson had flicked off his legs from Mukesh Kumar.

Carson picks up three before Tom Price drives through the covers for four and their partnership is now worth 61 runs.

  11. wicket

    Mayes c R Patel b A Patel 24 (Leics 244 v Hants 214 & 328-8)

    Big wicket for Leicestershire...

Spinner Ajaz Patel picks up his third wicket of the innings as Ben Mayes goes straight after lunch, caught low down at slip by Rishi Patel.

Hampshire lead by 298 with two wickets to go.

What would Leicestershire feel is a realistic target? 330 maybe?

  12. Three fours for Reecepublished at 13:33 BST 17 September

    Northants 310 v Derby 372 & 120-4

Luis Reece hits a hat-trick of boundaries to take Derbyshire's fifth wicket stand past 50.

He and Martin Andersson are frustrating Northamptonshire who need the win and would have had high hopes when getting Derbyshire four down with a lead of just 132 this morning.

    The lead now is 182.

    Hill c Rew b Overton 89 (Yorkshire 212 & 220-7 v Somerset 201)

Somerset finally break this mammoth Yorkshire partnership.

Craig Overton bangs it in short and George Hill tries to pull through the leg-side but instead top edges and spoons it a long way into the Leeds sky.

Wicketkeeper James Rew is underneath it when it comes down to bag into his gloves.

Hill goes for 89 and his 166-run stand with Dom Bess, which has taken Yorkshire from 54-6 to 220-7 comes to an end.

  14. Postpublished at 13:31 BST 17 September

    Leics 244 v Hants 214 & 327-7

Play has just resumed at Grace Road.

It was a decent morning session for the Foxes, picking up four wickets, but Hampshire's lead has grown to 297.

A reminder that anything but a win for Leicestershire would seal their relegation, while victory for Hampshire would take their survival bid to the final week.

  15. Play begins at Hovepublished at 13:31 BST 17 September

    Sussex 308-6 v Notts 240

Finally! We are under way at Hove after the morning was washed out by the grim weather.

The sun is out now though and Nottinghamshire begin the very tough task of trying to claw this game back into their favour.

Mukesh Kumar bowls the final ball of his over from last night and Jack Carson plays and misses outside off.

  16. Postpublished at 13:30 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 217-6 v Somerset 201

Dom Bess flicks Craig Overton around the corner and away for four at fine leg.

The runs keep on flowing for Yorkshire and their lead is now 228.

Somerset could really use a wicket right about now. Have we said that yet?

George Hill born in same hospital as Harry Brook and also Matthew Revis. Must be something about the maternity wing at Airedale Hospital

    Brian, Skipton

Without Bess and Hill Yorkshire would already be relegated this season. Most of the rest of the Yorkshire side, with the exception of BC, are pretty much second division level anyway. Hill had earned a shot at an England place but Yorkshire will be in big trouble without him.

  18. Postpublished at 13:22 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 213-6 v Somerset 201

Big appeal by Jake Ball and the Somerset field as Dom Bess is caught on the back leg by an inswinger... Not a bad shout at all but not out is the call again.

Bess then picks up a single to move to 65.

  19. Postpublished at 13:20 BST 17 September

    Northants 310 v Derby 372 & 95-4

Derbyshire add two runs in the first over after lunch to take their lead to 157.

The confirmation of Kent's win allows the home side here to make their calculations.

A win would leave them four points clear of their rivals going into the final round of matches. A draw would put them four behind and a defeat would have them 12 points off the pace.

Derbyshire already knew it but it's now mathematically certain they'll still be in the second division next season.

Yorkshire's spin-bowling all-rounder may be Simply Dom Bess (Mike, 12.20pm), but I'm not sure about the Batsman-Turner's (C)Overdrive.

Jon in Cornwall, wishing he'd get out soon...

Dom wants to be the very Bess, like no one ever was. (A better Dom Bess chant than Mike)
