  1. KENT BEAT LANCASHIRE BY SEVEN WICKETSpublished at 13:16 BST 17 September
    Breaking

Kent 142-3 (target 140 to beat Lancashire)

A punch off the back foot to point by Daniel Bell-Drummond for four off George Balderson seals the win for Kent.

For the time being at least Kent move into second place.

Eyes will now no doubt be on the game at Wantage Road, where Northants need a win against Derbyshire to take the second promotion place back.

Host captain Daniel Bell-Drummond settles the chase with successive boundaries to finish on 19 not out.

Sam Northeast is unbeaten on 48 - and the only wicket to fall today was Tawanda Muyeye, who played his part in the chase before being pinned LBW by Tom Bailey for 43.

Lancashire remain second from bottom going into the final round at home to division leaders Durham.

  2. Postpublished at 13:16 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 212-6 v Somerset 201

The sun is shining brightly at Headingley and Dom Bess picks up where he left off before lunch.

Jake Ball serves up a half-volley outside off and Bess pushes through the covers for four.

Somerset then go up, convinced that Ball has trapped Bess in front but it might be sliding down.

Yorkshire have matched their first innings total with four wickets in hand.

  3. Postpublished at 13:14 BST 17 September

    Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 423-7

Mason Crane hits a single and then Timm van der Gugten clips the next ball from Auqib Nabi to the boundary.

The eighth wicket pair have taken their stand to 46 and Glamorgan's lead to 440.

  4. Play resumes at Headingleypublished at 13:13 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 208-6 v Somerset 201

Away we go again at Headingley after lunch.

Can Somerset find the breakthrough they so desperately need to limit the target they will have to chase to keep the title in their own hands?

Or will George Hill and Dom Bess continue to add to their 154-run partnership and build a potentially insurmountable lead?

Yorkshire are already 219 ahead and Somerset still need four wickets.

    Big session incoming.

  5. Hampshire slowly build towards tough totalpublished at 13:12 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 324-7

Despite disheartening news overnight, Leicestershire will be happy with that performance in the morning session.

They've taken four wickets, and Ian Holland and Ben Green bowled beautifully with the new ball, getting the ball to seam and move around on a pitch that has rediscovered its life.

The issue, perhaps, is that they didn't quite have the firepower to back up that solid opening spell.

Hampshire added just 61 runs in 29 overs, which is pretty slow-going. They'll hope to get beyond 300 - a real psychological barrier for Leicestershire in their chase, and push on from there.

There is plenty of time for a chase, mind.

  6. Postpublished at 13:11 BST 17 September

Kent 138-3 (target 140 to beat Lancashire)

Six to win. Daniel Bell-Drummond faces George Balderson.

    One hit will do it.

The second ball is cut to point for four. Two to win.

  7. Postpublished at 13:09 BST 17 September

Kent 134-3 (target 140 to beat Lancashire)

Still 10 needed to win with a theoretical 10 minutes till lunch.

Now part-time medium pacer Josh Bohannon will have a bowl.

Sam Northeast defends into the off side.

He misses an attempted glance off a leg side ball - well taken by the keeper Matty Hurst.

An LBW off a full ball is turned down. Two leg byes taken.

Northeast punches a ball off the back foot through cover for two.

George Hill is good enough for England, but as a Yorkshireman it would once again weaken our team . Test at Headingley in exchange for his services ?

    Craig, Whitby

George Hill is a certainty to play for England soon. His batting and bowling are Test class and he is a magnificent slip fielder

    John - Pontefract

George Hill is 6ft, bowls a lovely line and length, can swing it both ways with great control, usually for very few runs and he can bat. I assume he'll have to join Surrey before England take notice.

    Kyle, Huddersfield

  9. Postpublished at 13:05 BST 17 September

Kent 130-3 (target 140 to beat Lancashire)

The PA has announced we'll play on for another 15 minutes to try and finish this match.

    George Balderson to continue.

He's wide of off to Daniel Bell-Drummond - who leaves the ball.

The fifth ball is driven through extra cover but there's no run.

    Maiden over.

  10. Postpublished at 13:02 BST 17 September

Kent 130-3 (target 140 to beat Lancashire)

Sam Northeast pushes Mitch Stanley into cover for one.

Kent captain Daniel-Bell Drummond drives off the back foot to mid off for one to take the target down to 10.

    It is now 1pm.

The last ball of the over is pushed into the on side by Sam Northeast.

Are we going to lunch? No.

  11. Play to start at 13:30 BST at Hovepublished at 13:00 BST 17 September

    Sussex 308-6 v Notts 240

We're finally getting somewhere in this one after going without any cricket so far today.

The umpires have inspected the pitch and play will begin at 13:30 BST at Hove, providing there is no further rain in the meantime.

  12. Postpublished at 12:58 BST 17 September

Kent 128-3 (target 140 to beat Lancashire)

Kent need 13. Lunch at 13:00 BST as it stands but would that change if Kent got to within a run or two by then?

Sam Northeast lets a grubber go outside off that bounces twice on the way to the keeper, Matty Hurst.

Sam Northeast drives without footwork and misses outside off in the first real sign of impatience in the session of play.

An edge goes past the slip cordon to deep third for one.

    Over bowled. 12 to win.

  13. Postpublished at 12:55 BST 17 September

Kent 127-3 (target 140 to beat Lancashire)

Sam Northeast is forward to Mitch Stanley and the ball passes the outside edge of a defensive bat.

He might have played inside the line deliberately there.

The fourth ball has a bit of width and is cut on the back foot through point for three.

A good sliding stop from Rocky Flintoff.

An appeal for LBW as Daniel Bell-Drummond falls across the line is turned down. A bit leg side maybe.

  14. Postpublished at 12:51 BST 17 September

Kent 124-3 (target 140 to beat Lancashire)

George Balderson is back of a length, angling the ball in to Sam Northeast, who works the ball away for a leg bye.

No runs off the bat there and Kent need 16.

  17. Postpublished at 12:47 BST 17 September

Kent 123-3 (target 140 to beat Lancashire)

Mitch Stanley will have his first spell of the day, bowling in place of Tom Bailey and the first ball is guided to deep third by Sam Northeast for four runs.

    A bit short and wide.

The fourth ball is worked away through square leg for one.

  18. Postpublished at 12:43 BST 17 September

Single to Daniel Bell-Drummond clipping to the leg side.

Sam Northeast will keep the strike with a push to long on for one.

  19. Postpublished at 12:41 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 322-7

The Hampshire lead is now 292 at Grace Road, where lunch will be delayed slightly after the revised 10.45 start this morning that was brought on by rain.
