    Sussex 308-6 v Notts 240

We have an update from Hove and hopefully it's good news.

The rain has stopped, the skies are a lot brighter now and the ground staff are beginning their "clear up process". The covers are coming off as we speak.

Lunch is going to be taken early at 12:15 BST and the umpires will inspect the pitch after lunch.

  3. Postpublished at 11:49 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 294-6

Width from Ian Holland and Joe Weatherley leaves the ball outside his off stump.

An LBW shout to a straighter ball is turned down.

    Weatherley gets outside the line.

Weatherley is forward to defend and runs the ball away outside off and safely to deep third for four.

New batter Timm van der Gugten pulls a short delivery from Auqib Nabi for four.

"That shows there's really no pace in this pitch."

    Durham 465 v Worcestershire 316-7

Ben Stokes and Alex Lees share a jokeImage source, Getty Images

Ben Stokes has just picked up two wickets in successive overs and now has figures of 4-62.

The Durham all-rounder had Henry Cullen caught at slip, and then a driving Adam Hose snaffled behind for 105.

Hose didn't look happy at the decision, but up went the finger.

  6. Postpublished at 11:45 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 290-6

Ben Green is wide of the crease, getting one to bounce sharply and nip away from Ben Mayes.

    A wicket maiden.

  7. 12:00 BST restart at Canterburypublished at 11:44 BST 17 September

Kent 84-2 (target 140 to beat Lancashire)

Conditions have cleared up since a damp start earlier.

If the weather behaves - we'll be back here by midday.

  8. Postpublished at 11:43 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 170-6 v Somerset 201

Four singles from Lewis Gregory's over for Yorkshire and the hosts continue to tick along.

George Hill and Dom Bess have put on 116 runs for the seventh wicket and the home side now lead by 181.

We've said it before and we will say it again... Somerset need wickets. And pretty sharpish now.

    Brown c Holland b Green 0 - Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 290-6

Ben Green bowls outside off - drawing a flashing stroke and a miss out of Ben Brown.

A slower ball is dabbed defensively to backward point. Low bounce.

Out! Chipped a full ball across the line and a leading edge goes through to Ian Holland down the ground.

That might have straightened a bit off the seam.

One Ben is replaced by another - Ben Mayes.

  11. Postpublished at 11:39 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 290-5

The complexion of the game has changed entirely with the new ball, generating seam, bounce and swing.

Full from Ian Holland and Joe Weatherley gets the ball away behind square leg for four.

Holland drags the length back and Weatherley defends down the ground.

Holland gets one to keep low and Weatherley crouches into a push to mid off for no run.

  12. Postpublished at 11:37 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 166-6 v Somerset 201

The weather can't make its mind up in Yorkshire. We've had sunshine, then rain, then more sunshine.

And now it's gone very gloomy and the floodlights are on at Headingley.

Jake Ball comes on for a bowl for Somerset and there is a single apiece from his over for George Hill and Dom Bess.

  13. Postpublished at 11:33 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 286-5

A glance to leg off Ben Green brings Joe Weatherley three.

Ben Brown is beaten, taking one hand off the bat outside off stump.

Seam and bounce there. An LBW appeal. No shot but struck outside the line and a bit high.

Green is getting a bit of inswing too. One ball swings the other way and Brown leaves it outside off.

Re Leicester points deduction. Should the game therefore also be declared a draw and the other team receive points for a draw?

Auqib Nabi celebrates taking a wicketImage source, Shutterstock

It's finally done for Asa Tribe as Auqib Nabi strikes for the second time this morning.

Tribe is hit on the pads as he tries to play it onto the onside. His shot suggests he thought it was going down past leg but the umpire didn't.

The lead is 384 so Surrey could be facing an interesting run chase with plenty of time to go.

  16. Postpublished at 11:30 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 283-5

Two slips in for Ian Holland - who earlier took the prize wicket of Hampshire's Nick Gubbins for a fine 133.

Ben Brown leaves the ball outside off. Good carry there.

Now a play and miss outside off trying to block on the front foot.

A rare leg side ball goes past the stumps and is well taken by keeper Ben Cox.

Maiden over. The last ball nips back and passes over the stumps as Brown leaves it.

  17. Postpublished at 11:29 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 163-6 v Somerset 201

Much better from Migael Pretorius who went for 17 in his first over of the day for Somerset.

He follows it up with a tighter over with just a single for George Hill this time.

Somerset need wickets fairly soon though, otherwise there is a risk this game starts to get beyond them.

  18. Postpublished at 11:26 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 283-5

Ben Green shares the new ball with Ian Holland.

Joe Weatherley is forward to defend.

A play and miss trying to defend. Movement off the seam.

    Maiden over.

Adam Hose celebrates reaching his centuryImage source, Getty Images

As we heard a little earlier from Martin Emmerson, Worcestershire batter Adam Hose has reached his century. The Pears are looking good against Durham on 308-5, but they still trail by 157 runs.

Middlesex will be looking to build a big lead against bottom side Gloucestershire. They're 52-1 in their second innings and 82 ahead.

Derbyshire have lost a couple of early wickets in their second innings at Northants - Liam Guthrie with both.

The visitors are 35-2, but lead by 97.

There's a delayed start at Canterbury between Kent and Lancashire, where the hosts need just 56 more runs to win with eight wickets in hand.

There will be an inspection at 11:30 BST.

    Sussex 308-6 v Notts 240

Wretched morning down here in Hove, cant see there being any play til mid afternoon

    Glyn. Brighton

Indeed, Glyn. Absolutely teeming down all morning. Not ideal for Notts and their hopes of retaining the title. They can't really afford to lose too much time if they are to get the win they need.
