WICKETpublished at 10:57 BST 17 September

    Lumsden LBW b Ahmed 16 - Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 264-4

Manny Lumsden sweeps, misses - and is hit on the pad by a straight one. Looks like the arm ball from Rehan Ahmed.

    Plumb.

The umpire has given it and here comes Joe Weatherley.

  2. sun

Back on at The Ovalpublished at 10:56 BST 17 September

    Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 353-5

Well they weren't off for long.

The black cloud floats over The Oval without depositing any rain so we go again.

  3. 11:30 BST inspection due at Canterburypublished at 10:55 BST 17 September

Kent 84-2 (target 140 to beat Lancashire)

If - and only if there's no more rain.

  4. Postpublished at 10:54 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 263-3

Nick Gubbins is forward to Ajaz Patel, pushing the spinner into the off side for a single.

Manny Lumsden pushes to mid on for no run.

  5. Play resumes at Headingleypublished at 10:54 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 132-6 v Somerset 201

Good news, Yorkshire and Somerset fans! The players are back out at Headingley already.

Just a brief rain shower and on we go again with blue skies now overhead.

  6. Postpublished at 10:52 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 262-3

Nick Gubbins gets a run pushing on the back foot off the third ball of Day Three.

Shot! Manny Lumsden drives through wide mid off for four.

Lumsden is back and across with a dap through point for one.

Gubbins tucks a ball away leg side for one to keep the strike as the sunshine appears for the first time in the session.

  7. Bad light stops play at The Ovalpublished at 10:51 BST 17 September

    Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 352-5

A very dark cloud hovers over The Oval and the umpires take the players off after 17 minutes of play.

Glamorgan have added 13 runs to take their lead to 369. Asa Tribe has moved onto 146.

Both sets of players and supporters can now use the time off the field to read up on the comments over Leicestershire's points deduction which has made both these counties almost certainly safe.

  8. rain stops play

Somerset and Notts impacted by rainpublished at 10:51 BST 17 September

Might this grim weather have an impact on the outcome of the County Championship Division One title?

No sign of starting any time soon at Sussex, where it is absolutely lashing down and Nottinghamshire almost certainly need a victory to realistically stay in the fight.

And now we're off because of rain at Headingley, where Somerset too need a win.

Plenty of time still left in these matches of course, but it's not ideal for the title-chasers. Bears fans probably won't mind...

  9. Postpublished at 10:49 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 255-3

Ajaz Patel tosses the ball up to Manny Lumsden - who defends.

The third ball is driven to cover and stopped by Rehan Ahmed.

A bit of low bounce in evidence here as Lumsden sees out the maiden over.

Now Rehan Ahmed will bowl his leg spin to Nick Gubbins.

  10. Day Three begins at Grace Roadpublished at 10:46 BST 17 September

    Leicestershire 244 v Hampshire 214 & 255-3

Manny Lumsden was on "night watch" duty (or is that night hawk?) last night - and he will face the first ball of the day, bowled by spinner Ajaz Patel.

He's on 10 not out and his senior batting partner Nick Gubbins is on 124.

Hampshire lead by 225 at this point.

This is a grim day in more ways than one for Leicestershire on account of the points deduction verdict announced last night - though this can be appealed within 10 working days.

The club has since stated it is reviewing its position and will make no further statement at this time.

  11. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Headingleypublished at 10:45 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 132-6 v Somerset 201

Well that was a brief stint of cricket this morning... just the 13 minutes to be precise.

The rain has started pouring down at Headingley and the umpires are taking the players off.

    On come the covers.

  12. Postpublished at 10:44 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 132-6 v Somerset 201

The punishment for poor pitches is disproportionate of course, but all counties knew what the punishment would be at the start of the season and some people at Leics clearly knew what they were doing before the game.

  14. Postpublished at 10:40 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 129-6 v Somerset 201

First runs of the day for Yorkshire as Dom Bess nudges a single into the leg-side from Craig Overton.

Just the one run from the third over of this third day. Slow and steady start for Yorkshire.

Thoughts on Leicestershire points deductionpublished at 10:39 BST 17 September

    Get Involved

The big news story last night was Leicestershire being deducted 27 points for breaching pitch regulations in their win over Glamorgan last month.

It sent the Foxes to the bottom of the table and they will be relegated if they fail to beat Hampshire in this round.

  16. Postpublished at 10:37 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 128-6 v Somerset 201

Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory with his first over of the day and he too bowls a maiden to George Hill, who is 50*.

Tight line and length to start day three for the title hopefuls.

  18. Postpublished at 10:34 BST 17 September

    Yorkshire 212 & 128-6 v Somerset 201

A maiden over for Craig Overton to Dom Bess to start the day at Headingley.

Yorkshire's lead is 139. Hard to know what a good target to set Somerset would be, given how this game has gone.

With 212 the highest score so far, you'd imagine the visitors won't want to be chasing too many more than that.

  19. Prompt start to day three at The Ovalpublished at 10:32 BST 17 September

    Surrey 115 v Glamorgan 132 & 340-5

The floodlights are on at The Oval but play is getting under way on time.

Asa Tribe opens with a single to take him to 142 and Glamorgan's lead to 357 with five wickets left..

Two days to go so all results are possible.

  20. rain stops play

Delayed start at Hovepublished at 10:31 BST 17 September

    Sussex 308-6 v Notts 240

We might be waiting a while for some cricket on the south coast today.

The rain is still coming down, the sky is very gloomy overhead at Hove and the covers are firmly on.

Word is that there is unlikely to be an inspection by the umpires this morning.

    We will keep you updated.
