Somerset 33-2 - target 287 to beat Yorkshire

Henry Nicholls squirts one through the leg-side from George Hill and comes back for two.

He then drives outside off stump but it's straight to a fielder and there's no run.

Just the two from the first over after the latest rain-induced restart.

    Abbas c Bartlett b Sales 9 (Northants 310 v Derby 372 & 286-9)

Mohammad Abbas takes his eyes off a short delivery from James Sales as he tries a forehand smash.

George Bartlett takes an excellent catch.

If the last wicket falls straight away Northants will need 349 to win.

Leics 97-1 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Felix Organ to continue as a few spots of rain appear, though it should be noted there are blue skies near the perimeter of the ground.

Single to Sheridon Gumbs driving down the ground.

Tight single and it could've been costly had Kyle Abbott took the ball cleanly.

Rehan Ahmed gets well forward and gets a single to mid on.

    Durham 465 & 83-3 v Worcestershire 448

Promoted Division Two leaders Durham are yet to lose in the Championship this season - but they're having a little wobble against Worcestershire.

Mayank Agarwal, who made 177 in the first innings, has just been dismissed for nine, bowled by Pears sub George O'Connor.

    Durham's lead is exactly 100.

Somerset 31-2 - target 287 to beat Yorkshire

On. Off. On. Off. Back on again. The rain breaks are mirroring the momentum of this match, which has swung one way then the other.

Anyhow, the players are back on the field at Headingley and we will resume once more.

Just the 11 minutes off the pitch this time. Can't imagine that's helping the flow for either side, particularly the Somerset batters, who have to keep getting their eye back in.

    Northants 310 v Derby 372 & 285-8

Mohammad Abbas reverse sweeps Calvin Harrison for four..

"That was a long way down my bingo card, a reverse sweep from Abbas"

The intermittent weather here is just adding to the tension & drama!

    George, West Yorkshire

Certainly is, George. Not sure Somerset fans will be enjoying it though!

Leics 94-1 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Sheridon Gumbs is forward to Felix Organ, pushing the spinner down to mid off for one.

A single to Rehan Ahmed down the ground with mid on set deep.

Gumbs keeps the strike, driving a single.

WICKETpublished at 16:36 BST 17 September

    Potts c Vasconcelos 57 b. Sales (Northants 310 v Derby 372 & 275-8)

Nick Potts edges James Sales low to slip and the eighth wicket partnership is broken on 99.

Northants needed that. They were looking increasingly frustrated and just before the wicket they conceded their umpteenth overthrow of the game.

The lead is 335 and the home side may now have to think in terms of trying to save the game instead of winning it.

  11. Postpublished at 16:36 BST 17 September

    Sussex 358 v Notts 240 & 75-1

Freddie McCann flicks away Sean Hunt and the Notts pair come through for three before a leg bye off Haseeb Hameed's thigh pad.

The visitors are chipping away at the Sussex lead and they've got it down to 43 now.

Notts' next aim will be to restore parity without any further damage to the wickets column.

  12. Postpublished at 16:36 BST 17 September

Leics 91-1 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Kyle Abbott bowls a rare bouncer to Sheridon Gumbs, who tries to flick the ball away and there's no run.

The fourth ball is full and pushed to backward point on the front foot for a single.

Rain stops play at Headingleypublished at 16:32 BST 17 September

Somerset 31-2 - target 287 to beat Yorkshire

    They're going off. Again.

Another rain shower comes in at Headingley and it had been threatening to do so.

The last one passed through and we only lost about 15 minutes of playing time. Hopefully it's not too dissimilar this time.

  14. Postpublished at 16:31 BST 17 September

Leics 90-1 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Hampshire turn to spin and Felix Organ is back in the attack.

Sheridon Gumbs goes back and across to push the spinner through the off side but there's no run.

Gumbs is right back, playing very late to get the ball through the leg side, again for no run.

The sixth ball is worked away to deep point for one.

  15. Postpublished at 16:29 BST 17 September

    Sussex 358 v Notts 240 & 67-1

Freddie McCann is also in maiden denial mode for Notts, slicing a top edge over the slips from Sean Hunt from the final ball of the over and that races away for four.

  16. Postpublished at 16:28 BST 17 September

Somerset 28-2 - target 287 to beat Yorkshire

Tom Lammonby denies George Hill a maiden by punching through the covers for four for Somerset.

He moves onto 11 from 38 balls and the rain is staying away for now despite the ominous clouds overhead.

  17. Postpublished at 16:27 BST 17 September

Leics 89-1 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Sheridon Gumbs flicks Kyle Abbott down fine leg for one.

Rehan Ahmed is struck on the pad by a ball that nips back too sharply for the LBW.

Some encouraging signs for Hampshire even so.

The floodlights are on under grey clouds here as another nip-backer goes through Ahmed and bounces in front of the slips.

If Somerset lose then title challenge over. If they draw still mathematically possible but will be dependent on Warks result. Notts look like drawing. So same applies.

    Jon, Bath

I wonder if Somerset fans are more worried about Notts or Warwickshire?

    Rich, Birmingham

I am an exiled Bears supporter but I have to say that Somerset would be more deserving of the title. If they chase down 280 especially with some rain expected then they deserve to go into the last round as favourites. However, I am quietly confident that they won’t!

    Chris, Brummie living in Hants

Quietly or loudly confident now, Chris?

  19. Postpublished at 16:24 BST 17 September

Somerset 24-2 - target 287 to beat Yorkshire

Henry Nicholls gets off the mark for Somerset by punishing the half-volley by Ben Coad to smash through extra cover.

Somerset still need 263 runs to win. It sounds steep given the way this match has unfolded.

Yorkshire need another eight wickets for victory.

The clouds are closing in again though. It's all gone very gloomy and the floodlights are on.

  20. Postpublished at 16:24 BST 17 September

Leics 88-1 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Sheridon Gumbs drives and squirts the ball to cover point for one.

The sixth ball of the over is dabbed away of the face of the bat by Rehan Ahmed, guiding the ball wide of the slips for four.
