Warwickshire fan here. I reckon this is the title right here. Somerset will win the title if they knock these off

    Paul, Wolverhampton

Nigel at 16:01, why do you dislike Warwickshire so much? We are Bears, all warm and cuddly!!

    Mike, Birmingham

Re Ash & Richard As the great George Hirst may or may not have said to the great Wilfed Rhodes: "We'll get 'em in singles"

WICKETpublished at 16:20 BST 17 September

    Sibley lbw b Toole 20 (Surrey 115 & 45-2 v Glamorgan 132 & 594)

Two lovely, hold the pose, cover drives from Ryan Patel but next over Ray Toole claims his second wicket.

Dom Sibley is hit on the front pad and is lbw so Toole has got both openers..

Surrey's Yorkshire-bound bowler, James Taylor, boasted at the end of day two that his team would fancy chasing down anything they were set.

    I don't think he meant 612.

  3. Postpublished at 16:20 BST 17 September

Leics 83-1 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Kyle Abbott will bowl from the other end.

Sheridon Gumbs has been much the more defensive of this second wicket pair but both approaches have merit in a stand on 41 at the start of this over.

Width and the bounce is low as Gumbs keeps the bat inside the line.

The fifth ball runs away behind square off the pad for a leg bye.

Rehan Ahmed misses an attempted back foot drive as the ball bounces and nips away outside off.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:19 BST 17 September

    Vaughan b Coad 12 (Somerset 20-2 - target 287 to beat Yorkshire)

Off stump and Archie Vaughan are gone.

It's straight and on a length from Ben Coad and for some reason, Vaughan opts to leave it.

The ball keeps slightly low but it doesn't matter when there's no shot offered - it would have hit the stumps anyway.

    Somerset up against it.

Somerset 19-1 - target 287 to beat Yorkshire

George Hill and Yorkshire's fielders like the look and sound of this... but the umpire doesn't.

The home side think they've trapped Archie Vaughan in front. Not given.

    Maiden over for Hill.

I'd rather go to bed Somerset 20-1 tonight than 50-3. Rain at Hove tomorrow would be nice.

    Alex, Wellington

Somerset will need to get a move on. The forecast for tomorrow does not look promising...

    Barney, Plymouth

Lammonby will tee off soon, 150* of 80 balls mark my words...

    Ryan, Devon (possibly over-optimistic)

How should Somerset approach this run chase? Get a move on or play it sensible? Let us know...

  7. Postpublished at 16:15 BST 17 September

Leics 82-1 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Scott Currie is full and wide to start with.

His second ball is driven with a flowing blade past Ben Mayes in the covers for four, again lifting his back leg up.

Didn't we used to call that "the flamingo"?

Two more runs worked into the off side.

One ball hardly bounces at all and Ahmed gets the bat down in time.

  8. Postpublished at 16:13 BST 17 September

    Sussex 358 v Notts 240 & 56-1

Haseeb Hameed makes the most of being dropped by smashing Sean Hunt for four square of the wicket on the off-side through a very similar area to where George Thomas put him down just now.

It's almost cruel on the bowler.

  9. Play resumes at Grace Roadpublished at 16:13 BST 17 September

Leics 76-1 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Leicestershire have got off to a decent start in a chase they have to win for any chance of staying in the top flight.

Just the one wicket to fall this afternoon, Rishi Patel caught behind off the bowling of Scott Currie for 28 in his last innings as a Leicestershire player.

How tense could this get if the hosts can get through to Day Four with most of these wickets in hand?

Rehan Ahmed takes guard first, facing Scott Currie.

He's on 20 not out. Sheridon Gumbs has 23.

  10. dropped catch

Hameed dropped on 23published at 16:11 BST 17 September

    Sussex 358 v Notts 240 & 52-1

George Thomas has put down Notts opener Haseeb Hameed.

It flew to Thomas at backward point off Sean Hunt but he cannot hold on.

    Will that prove costly?

  11. Postpublished at 16:10 BST 17 September

Somerset 17-1 - target 287 to beat Yorkshire

Somerset opener Tom Lammonby will be a relieved man to get off the mark with a four and a single from George Hill to go to five from 26 balls.

We've still got potentially another 33 overs today. Plenty can happen in that time.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:06 BST 17 September

    Burns c Carlson b Toole 9 (Surrey 115 & 31-1 v Glam 132 & 594)

Glamorgan get the first of 10 wickets they need to win the match as Rory Burns plays a loose shot.

He wafts at one from Ray Toole and Kiran Carlson takes a high catch at third slip.

Surrey won't be relegated but it would underline a tough season if they suffer a heavy defeat here.

  13. Postpublished at 16:06 BST 17 September

Somerset 12-1 - target 287 to beat Yorkshire

Archie Vaughan gets on top of the bounce from a short and wide one by Ben Coad and lifts it over the infield for four.

Five dots to go with the boundary from the first over after the restart following a brief rain break.

  14. 50 runs

for Pottspublished at 16:04 BST 17 September

    Northants 310 v Derby 372 & 244-7

Nick Potts turns one around his pads to bring up his maiden first-class half-century.

The 24 year old has really taken his opportunity after being called in as an injury replacement for Ben Aitchison on the second day.

  15. Play resumes at Headingleypublished at 16:03 BST 17 September

Somerset 8-1 - target 287 to beat Yorkshire

It was just a brief passing shower and we've only lost about 15 minutes of play at Headingley.

We are back under way once more with Ben Coad running in.

  16. Play resumes at Hovepublished at 16:02 BST 17 September

    Sussex 358 v Notts 240 & 52-1

Everyone's had a cuppa and a quick bite to eat and we are ready to go again at Hove.

Sean Hunt with the first over after tea. Haseeb Hameed to face up.

  17. McKinney made to wait for 1,000 runspublished at 16:02 BST 17 September

    Durham 465 & 59-1 v Worcestershire 448

Durham opener Ben McKinney has just been bowled by Pears seamer Matthew Waite for 38.

It means he'll need another 27 runs in Durham's final game at Lancashire to reach 1,000 County Championship runs for the season.

In Division Two, only team-mate David Bedingham has reached that milestone.

I’d love to see Somerset win the Championship (especially as it would mean denying Warwickshire!), but I’m a Yorkshireman and longing to see Yorkshire get another win for this season… so confused!! Nigel (in exile in Shropshire)

    Nigel, in exile in Shropshire

We (Notts) need a few of our top 5 to step up. A draw would be a decent result from here, particularly with those 3 bowling points & Somerset not having it easy.

Leics 76-1 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

    Rehan Ahmed battingImage source, Shutterstock

Manny Lumsden will bowl the last over before the break.

Rehan Ahmed cuts with his back leg off the ground to deep point for one.

Sheridon Gumbs pulls his bat inside the line, back of a length and just wide of off.

He'll get one into the leg side off the fourth ball.

Shot! Rehan Ahmed is on his toes, cutting to deep point past Jake Lehmann for four.

Ahmed flicks the last ball leg side for one to take Leicestershire to tea.

The hosts can dare to dream in a must-win game against Hampshire to stay up in Division One.

    They need 258.

  20. Postpublished at 15:47 BST 17 September

Leics 69-1 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Change of bowling. Felix Organ is coming on.

A slip and forward short leg come in for the spinner.

A full toss is patted away to mid on by Sheridon Gumbs for one.

Rehan Ahmed drives and gets a bit of luck with an inside edge past the keeper for one.

Organ is round the wicket to Gumbs - who defends. He's back to the next ball and missing the ball, which just misses the stumps.
