    Warks v Sussex 185-7 - lead by 180

Even stevens? Maybe, maybe not - but another 50 or 60 runs for Sussex would make this game very, very interesting indeed.

Warwickshire would very much like to hoover up these three remaining wickets in short order as Sussex also have a very handy seam attack.

Jack Carson - who former Warwickshire skipper Dermot Reeve believes has the technique to become an opening bat - and Henry Crocombe resume for the visitors.

  2. Play resumes at Derbypublished at 13:53 BST 22 August

    Derbyshire v Durham 60-1 - lead by 187

Durham's Will Rhodes turns Nick Potts' first ball after lunch into the leg side for a single as we resume at Derby.

  3. Postpublished at 13:52 BST 22 August

    Somerset v Essex 142-3 - trail by 169

Nearly. Matt Critchley appears caught in two minds as he dabs the opening ball of a new Jack Leach over and it lands just a couple of inches in front of second slip.

Critchley rotates the strike with a single to mid-wicket and will face Jack Ball from the other end.

    Stone c Foakes b Fisher 0 (Notts 258-8 v Surrey - lead by 280)

Can you believe it? Matt Fisher forces Olly Stone to edge the first ball after lunch into the gloves of Ben Foakes and he is on a hat-trick.

First boundary of the afternoon as Jake Ball offers too much width and Charlie Allison steers it away through backward point. He is six not out.

    Wharton c Orr b Organ 47 (Hants v Yorkshire 209-7 - lead by 185)

Hampshire strike just four balls after lunch!

And James Wharton has to go just three runs short of his half-century.

It's an inside edge which goes to Ali Orr at short leg who takes an excellent low catch to his left.

A very important and gritty knock from Wharton, who reached 47 off 139 deliveries, comes to an end.

  7. Play resumes at Southamptonpublished at 13:44 BST 22 August

    Hants v Yorkshire 208-6 - lead by 184

We are back under way at the Utilita Bowl as Yorkshire resume their second-innings 184 runs ahead with four wickets standing.

Felix Organ's first delivery after lunch is defended into the off-side by Jonny Bairstow.

  8. Postpublished at 13:42 BST 22 August

    Somerset v Essex 136-3 - trail by 175

The players walk back out to the middle at Taunton.

A lot of work ahead for Matt Critchley and Charlie Allison, the two not out Essex batters.

Jack Leach will continue his spell - he has 1-14 from 11 overs in this innings - and Critchley steers his second delivery away for a single.

  9. Bonus points explainerpublished at 13:31 BST 22 August

    #bbccricket

With all matches now into the third innings and given the messages we have had this morning, it's probably time to explain the bouns points system used in Championship cricket.

There are 16 points for a win and eight points for a draw for the outcome of the match.

Meanwhile, bonus points are only available in the first 110 overs of the first innings of each side and work as follows.

    Batting:

    250-299 - 1

    300-349 - 2

    350-399 - 3

    400-449 - 4

    450+ - 5

    Bowling:

    3-5 wickets - 1

    6-8 wickets - 2

    9-10 wickets - 3

  11. 'Placid' pitch means hard work for both teamspublished at 13:23 BST 22 August

    Somerset 469 v Essex 158 & 135-3 - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset have had to work hard this morning, but patience and persistence paid off with three wickets, and big wickets at that.

Perhaps surprisingly, two of them have fallen to seam, with Jake Ball bowling Paul Walter off the inside edge, and Migael Pretorius finding Dean Elgar's outside edge.

But it was Somerset's most obvious threat, Jack Leach, who lured Tom Westley into a loose drive to be caught in the covers.

The pitch is placid, offering only occasional turn, and more hard work for battters and bowlers alike awaits this afternoon.

  12. Lunch at Cheltenhampublished at 13:21 BST 22 August

    Glos 15-0 v Worcs - trail by 102

Cameron Bancroft and Joe Phillips survive six overs to the lunch break.

Watchful stuff as most of the batting has been in this game and Gloucestershire are still more than 100 in arrears.

Brett D'Oliveira's 83 for the Pears is the highest score of the match and a crucial one in a low-scoring game.

  13. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:20 BST 22 August

    Surrey v Notts 258-7 - lead by 280

An enticing first session at The Oval is at an end.

For an extensive period it looked as though Notts were on course to bat Surrey out of the game, with Joe Clarke (95) and Kyle Verreynne (46) both set and finding runs easy to come by.

Matt Fisher's spell before lunch, though, has turned this match back towards the hosts, however. He knocked over the off-stump of both set batters to ensure further twists and turns in the afternoon.

  14. Lunch at Leicesterpublished at 13:18 BST 22 August

    Leicestershire 178-6 v Glamorgan - lead by 177

That is the conclusion of the morning session at Grace Road - a session which has swung one way and then the other.

Glamorgan made breakthroughs at regular intervals throughout the course of the morning and Zain ul-Hassan (3-23) has led the way with the ball for the visitors.

The one player they have not been able to remove, however, is Sheridon Gumbs, who will return to the crease after lunch on 81 not out. He has played with composure and patience and has put on 50 for the seventh wicket with Ben Mike (14*).

  15. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:16 BST 22 August

    Lancashire 137 v Northants 284 & 4-0

Ricardo Vasconcelos and Luke Procter navigate two overs of Northants' second innings before we can all have a spot of lunch.

They have added four to the total and Northants lead by 151 after obliterating the Lancashire first innings this morning as the hosts sanks from 104-3 to 137 all out.

And not the first time this season, the Red Rose batting has fallen in a sorry heap.

The promotion-chasing visitors can look to bat themselves into a position whereby leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal can have plenty to work with in the final innings.

  16. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:14 BST 22 August

    Warwickshire 161 v Sussex 156 & 185-7

The question around Edgbaston as we reach lunch after an elongated morning session is 'how many will Warwickshire feel confident of chasing on this pitch?'

Their bowlers have done a good job this morning, picking up four Sussex wickets for 101 runs added - but in a low-scoring game, the visitors are 180 to the good at the interval.

Sussex skipper Tom Haines battled his way to 67 - the first half-century of the game - before he was caught at slip off Ed Barnard, who has 2-17.

Jack Carson and Henry Crocombe are the not out batters at the interval and the visitors will hope to push on well beyond 200 if possible this afternoon.

WICKET AND LUNCH AT NORTHWOODpublished at 13:12 BST 22 August

    Bell-Drummond b Gohar 39 (Middlesex v Kent 167-4 - lead by 268)

Zafar Gohar cramps Daniel Bell-Drummond from round the wicket and it crashes into the stumps.

A vital wicket for Middlesex and that is lunch. But definitely Kent's morning as 64 from Tawanda Muyeye and Ben Compton's unbeaten 53 are setting the game up for the visitors.

They lead by 268 and will hope to add another 100 or so more this afternoon.

  18. Lunch at Derbypublished at 13:12 BST 22 August

    Derbyshire v Durham 59-1 - lead by 186

It has certainly been Durham's session on day three at the County Ground in Derby.

Matthew Potts was the pick of the Durham bowlers, picking up figures of 5-46, cleaning up the Derbyshire tail with aplomb.

After Durham opener Alex Lees was caught at gully for a golden duck, Durham have re-set and Will Rhodes (16*) and Ben McKinney (36*) will return to the crease with their side in control of this one, 186 runs in front with nine second-innings wickets in hand.

    Verreynne b Fisher 46 (Surrey v Notts 258-7 - lead by 280)

Wow, what a delivery Matt Fisher.

The very next ball after a huge LBW appeal which is left alone, Fisher pitches the ball on middle and leg and brings it back onto the top of Kyle Verreynne's off-peg. It looks unplayable.

That is lunch at The Oval and with Fisher having removed both set batters before the afternoon session.

  20. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:06 BST 22 August

    Somerset 469 v Essex 158 & 135-3

Three singles for Essex off Archie Vaughan in the final over before lunch but the visitors face an uphill struggle to stave off the threat of an innings defeat.

Dan Elgar and Paul Walter extended their opening partnership to 82 on the third morning at Taunton before the latter played on to Jake Ball.

Elgar made 56 before he was caught behind off Migael Pretorius and skipper Tom Westley followed for 22 - Jack Leach's fifth victim of the game.

Essex are still 176 behind having had to follow on and Somerset will be confident of wrapping up a three-day victory at some point today.
