If Pakistan get a flyer with bat, then it could bring back bad memories for England after what happened against Sri Lanka.

    Thanks, Mike.

A little bit of movement for Gus Atkinson, particularly round the wicket to the left-handed Saim Ayub, who sees off five dots after a single off the first delivery from Fakhar Zaman.

Quite a bit of depth to this Pakistan batting line-up but a sensible start.

Right, almost time to get going again - the players are out in the middle with Gus Atkinson set to open the bowling for England.

Fakhar Zaman will face the first delivery of the innings, with Saim Ayub down the other end.

I'll hand you over to Timothy Abraham to take you through the next phase of play.

  4. Who is Henry Crocombe?published at 12:07 GMT 25 October

England have given an international debut to seamer Henry Crocombe today, with the 25-year-old coming in for Josh Tongue.

He now faces the challenging task of helping England defend a total of 241.

Crocombe was called-up into the England squad for the second Test against New Zealand in June and was also named in the ODI squad for the white-ball series against Sri Lanka in September.

The right-armer was given a two-year central contract earlier this month and will move to Surrey from Sussex for the 2027 county season.

  5. Anderson to leave Lancashirepublished at 12:04 GMT 25 October

Switching away from this match a second, Lancashire have confirmed that James Anderson will leave the club.

The decision was widely reported in the last week, but the Division Two have now confirmed that the England great, 44, will depart.

"I spoke to Jimmy about our ambitions to rebuild our men’s squad that is capable of securing promotion from Division Two of the County Championship and then challenging to win Division One over the next three to four years," said new director of cricket Paul Farbrace.

“We are keen to begin that rebuild now, both in terms of the playing squad and the wider professional cricket set-up, and to make important progress over the coming months. As part of those plans, I informed Jimmy that we had taken the incredibly difficult decision not to extend his playing contract for the 2027 season."

Posting about the decision on Instagram, external, Anderson said: "If it was up to me it wouldn't have ended like this."

England could really do with another accumulator in the middle order. Maybe someone like James Rew or Sam Hain from county cricket? The team don't bat the overs far too often to be successful.

    Test cricket? In Spain?!

What might have once seemed like a far-fetched idea actually might have some legs.

An Australian entrepreneur is overseeing the construction of a futuristic eco-friendly stadium in Spain and wants to bring high-profile fixtures to the ground including Test matches.

I think the pitch comes across on the slower side so if England get three wickets in the first powerplay they have got a great chance.

Pakistan look such a cohesive team. Everyone seems to know their roles.

When they have given guys debuts, they have come in and hit the ground running.

Pakistan have put themselves in a brilliant position to be guaranteed a place in that final.

Utterly dismal. England have been shocking in all three games. Is Brendon McCullum really the man to take us to a World Cup?

Well, Pakistan have been excellent today.

They have hung in there when there's been tricky times.

Those wickets in clusters have really hurt England.

Where they have landed and where they have ended up shows how well Pakistan have fielded and executed their plans.

A fourth wicket for Shaheen Shah Afridi and a third catch for Babar Azam - that's England's innings wrapped up with 20 balls to spare.

The England debutant toe-ends a shot into the covers, where Babar takes the catch running away from the wicket to meet the ball.

England finish with 241, which will be a challenging total to defend.

Shadab Khan should be looking to pitch the ball on leg stump and on a good length.

Looking for Atkinson to hit across the line of the ball.

  15. Eng 240-9published at 46 overs

Gus Atkinson takes two off Shadab Khan's first ball, sending the ball out into the covers.

A half-hearted appeal for a run-out follows - the umpires take a look but there's nothing in that.

Gutted Ben Duckett couldn't anchor this innings right to the death but getting that ton is still massive for his improvement as an international cricketer. Pretty 30-60s are nice, but tons make a difference and big ones make even more. 5-30 from Henry Crocombe now please!!

  17. Eng 237-9published at 45 overs

Gus Atkinson takes a further two out to mid-wicket, before adding another single off Shaheen Shah Afridi's penultimate ball.

Such a lovely shot from Gus Atkinson.

He doesn't move his feet, he stays still in the crease, and he nonchalantly punches the ball back over the umpire's head.

  19. 6 runs

    Eng 234-9published at 44.3 overs

Shaheen Shah Afridi comes back into the attack and Gus Atkinson lifts his third ball down the ground for six.

Crucial runs for England, but it perhaps doesn't bode well for when they're in the field.

Brendon McCullum's teams are mentally weak. There's having a freedom to play and there's lacking a responsibility to perform. His teams err on the latter far too often. As always we're talking about professionalism and duty to the role, not just going out for a hopeful swing.

    Nathan, Etton

Let's call out this batting performance for exactly what it is..... absolutely pathetic, abject and about 100 runs shy of competitive.

    Steve, London

This is quite a raw set of lessons for Harry Brook as captain here. We'll see if the team can keep it from being a trashing.
