    And sand for Carlota Ciganda.

Five minutes ago, thousands of yellow-decked Europeans were doing the thunder clap.

Now, the US are in pole position to win this match.

  2. Water trouble again for Boutierpublished at 18:02 BST 12 September

    Next up is Celine Boutier.

There's a creek down the left side of the fairway - and that's where it goes.

A wet ball pretty much counts her out of this hole.

Two American tee shots off the 18th.

    Both down the fairway.

    Right, give me some thumbs.

Can Europe dig deep to win this hole and take a two-point lead into singles tomorrow?

Or will it end as a half or a point to the US?

That's the amazing thing about matchplay. It is never over until it is over.

Do I need to show the Carlota Ciganda 18th hole from yesterday video again??

The Americans were shouting: "One time, one time" over and over again as Jennifer Kupcho's 91-foot putt trundled across the green.

On such moments do Solheim Cups swing.

And the momentum feels very much with USA right now.

  8. Boutier misses - and match is all squarepublished at 17:56 BST 12 September

    Ciganda/Boutier v Kupcho/Duncan A/S (17)

Seven feet for Celine Boutier as the Americans watch on. Oh she's pushed it - and it stays up.

    Suddenly, we're tied.

That is classic matchplay right there.

    Over to you Celine Boutier...

If Boutier misses, it is all square going down the last.

Somehow the Europeans now need one of these birdie putts to tie the hole.

And Carlota Ciganda misses the first one. This match is on a tightrope here.

You only get that in these kind of matches. It is the American fans who are going wild now. Incredible.

In it goes for Kupcho. Wow. What a moment for Team USA! Can you believe it?'

    No. Way!

Jennifer Kupcho has just drained her putt from the middle of nowhere, about 60 feet away, downhill and into the heart of the cup.

American players going wild around the green.

Utterly improbable - and we'll definitely be going down 18.

Team USA's Andrea Lee and Yealimi Noh, speaking after their fourballs victory..

Noh: "Feels so good. We had such a great match today. To finish it off with a win means so much.

"It means so much to me to not only represent my country. Playing good golf is always great. I will have a lot of confidence after today."

Lee:"We knew Lottie and Charley were going to put up a good fight today. I have never seen her [Noh] putt like that today, so it was awesome to watch!

"It just feels great to get a win."

Exactly what Europe needed to do. Two balls on the green! They have piled on the pressure.

Follow that Carlota? And boy does Ciganda do it. That's wonderful from the Spaniard - and she has a similar-looking birdie putt incoming.

Pressure on Lindy Duncan and she's onto the green but probably double the distance of the Europeans.

There's a thunder clap going around the 17th green. The crowd are feeling this. Europe are closing in on a precious point.

Celine Boutier is furthest back of the rest of this group, but I very much doubt she will be for her third after that pearl of an approach.

Delicious shot - and she'll have a tremendous look at birdie.

Jennifer Kupcho may as well go for it out of the jungle down the right side of 17. She can't see the hole, the ball is under her feet and when she gets het club under it, it springs out jauntily.

She has made it to the green, but it's a long way away.

This is awkward to pick a line as Kupcho is completely blocked out.
