    Unbelievable from Leona Maguire.

You can see how much it means to these players.

Three down and that is what she needed to do.

    Maguire/Nadaud v Zhang/Kim 2UP (8)

Listen to that roar. Leona Maguire is chipping from just off the front of the eighth green and when her ball settles on the dancefloor it trundles on and disappears into the hole.

Rose Zhang has a chance to halve the hole but her putt slids to the right and that's one back for the Europeans.

    Stark/Grant v Khang/Coughlin 1UP (10)

Megan Khang hasn't quite hit that. If she had the US would now be two holes up in this match, instead her ball curls left at the last moment and her eagle putt comes up short.

  4. Noh answers for USApublished at 14:38 BST 12 September

    Hull/Woad v Noh/Lee 1UP (8)

She's not on the same hole as Ciganda, but Yealimi Noh answered the Spaniard by landing a huge putt of her own.

Her putt is travelling at pace and she's pleading for it to slow down before it slams into the flag and drops down into the cup for an eagle to win the hole.

And in the blink of an eye the USA are up in three of the four matches out on the course.

No way! Carlota Ciganda with two monstrous putts! That came down a ski slope of a gradient.

  6. Ciganda does it again!published at 14:34 BST 12 September

    2UP Ciganda/Boutier v Kupcho/Duncan (6)

Carlota Ciganda again! The Spaniard drains a longer putt than the last one, must have been 30 feet snaking across the sixth green and alond the side of a slope.

But she judged it to perfection and lets out the patened "vamous" when the ball drops in the hole. A huge roar goes up around Bernardus Golf Club from the home support, can that inspire the rest of the team as there's a lot of red on that board.

  7. Coughlin keeps US in frontpublished at 14:30 BST 12 September

    Stark/Grant v Khang/Coughlin 1UP (9)

Lauren Coughlin saves the day again. Chipping on to five feet and stroking in pretty straight putt up the slope.

It could all have been so different mind had Linn Grant's birdie putt not slipped past to the right.

At times Coughlin has single-handedly kept Europe at bay in this match.

  8. Woad earns a halfpublished at 14:22 BST 12 September

    Hull/Woad v Noh/Lee A/S (7)

Lottie Woad gets on the board at least be making a birdie that counts for a half at the seventh - it's almost more as Yealimi Noh makes an edgy stroke on his short putt to answer and it's pushed away not exactly on line, but luckily enough it runs out of pace and just topples in through the side door.

That's the first time Woad's actually contributed a score that counted in this match though so that will be a nice settler.

    Stark/Grant v Khang/Coughlin 1UP (8)

Lauren Coughlin does not like that. 'Fore left' she shouts as her approach deviates miles away from where she was aiming but it then cannons into a course marshal and bounces back into play.

That looked like it was heading right into the heather. With Megan Khang in the bunker, talk about a stroke of good fortune.

  10. Huge birdiepublished at 14:19 BST 12 September

    1UP Ciganda/Boutier v Kupcho/Duncan (5)

Brilliant birdie putt from Carlota Ciganda on the fifth, that was tracking all the way across the green and the Spaniard walked that one in early.

The Americans still have the chance to answer it but they can't and Ciganda does it again in the bottom match to edge Europe in front.

A rare spot of blue on the board this afternoon.

Rose Zhang has been playing great, not picking up full points, but she has been doing everything possible with the partnership that she has been given.

    Maguire/Nadaud v Zhang/Kim 3UP (6)

Leona Maguire has a look at birdie on the sixth. It's been a while and she prods this one left of the hole. Was it meant to break there? She looks a little perplexed.

Importantly for Europe neither Rose Zhang or Auston Kim can capitalise.

It was tough this morning for Team USA. I am sure Europe had a great lunch, but they have ran out of steam early here. There is some red on the board now, but there's plenty more golf to play.

    Stark/Grant v Khang/Coughlin 1UP (8)

How many times today as Lauren Coughlin rescued a hole for the United States? Too many for Europe's liking.

The American's first putt flies a good eight feet past but she makes no mistake with her birdie attempt to match Linn Grant, after the Swede's eagle attempt drifted right.

  16. Zhang & Kim in complete controlpublished at 14:07 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Nadaud v Zhang/Kim 3UP (5)

Leona Maguire and Nastasia Nadaud have both impressed so far in this Solheim Cup but their newly formed partnership isn't really flourishing at all.

In fact it's the exact opposite and they are struggling to keep pace with Auston Kim and Rose Zhang, who drains a close-range birdie effort to give the American pair a three-hole lead.

Smoked it. Linn Grant watches Lauren Coughlin find the green on the short par four eighth and then serves up an even better drive that evades the font bunker and runs right up to and just past the flag.
