    Stark/Grant v Khang/Coughlin 1UP (5)

Maja Stark and Linn Grant have work to do up on the fifth. Neither can match the accuracy of Megan Khang or Lauren Coughlin, who pitch into four or five feet.

Grant is the closer of the two Europeans but her putt will be at least 10 feet if not a shade more.

It'll be all on her as far as Europe are concerned here and she's up to the task, rattling her effort home.

Khang LPGA Tour putting woese come to the fore as she slides her short effort past but Coughlin saves the day.

    Maguire/Nadaud v Zhang/Kim A/S (2)

Rose Zhang and Auston Kim both boom their drives down the third with Leona Maguire giving up a bit of distance off the tee but finding the fairway nicely.

Nastasia Nadaud clatters her drive and her ball runs up to within a club length of Kim's ball.

    Hull/Woad v Noh/Lee 1UP (3)

It's not looking good already for Europe's big guns as Yealimi Noh sinks a 15 footer to claim the third hole and put America one up.

The Solheim Cup and Ryder Cup has always been a bit of a putting contest, and neither Charley Hull or Lottie Woad have consistently made enough putts so far - nothing like Noh anyway who hardly reacts after draining that one.

  4. Postpublished at 13:11 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Nadaud v Zhang/Kim (2)

Nastasia Nadaud comes up three feet short with an eagle putt on the second.

That would have won the hole for Europe but instead she'll now need to tidy up to keep this match all square and she pops that in with ease.

    Leaderboard

A fist pump from Jennifer Kupcho as she makes her birdie on the first to take the lead - that's a rare win on the opening hole for the American team, with Europe being much better fast starters so far this week.

Kupcho's keen to try and get something on the board here and you can tell she's up for this one.

  6. Coughlin tips match one towards USpublished at 13:05 BST 12 September

    Stark/Grant v Khang/Coughlin 1UP (4)

Maja Stark and Linn Grant have not trailed in a match so far this week...until now.

Both are unable to convert mid-range birdie putts and Lauren Coughlin's laser-guided tee shot to around a foot does the job for the US pairing, who have started strongly.

Celine Boutier's record in fourballs isn't great. Four matches, three defeats and one win.

The question marks on the paring of Charley Hull and Lottie Woad, but you have to praise Anna Nordqvist for the pairing of the two rookies, Mimi Rhodes and Natasia Nadaud. That could have been a risk, but they have been incredible.

    Maguire/Nadaud v Zhang/Kim A/S (1)

A rather scratchy opening hole ends all square with none of the four players able to manage better than par.

  10. Birdies on twopublished at 13:00 BST 12 September

    Hull/Woad v Noh/Lee A/S (2)

Charley Hull makes her birdie four on the second hole, but so too does Yealimi Noh with a nice putt using that broomhandle style flat stick.

She knows how to use that thing though. All square.

    Stark/Grant v Khang/Coughlin A/S (3)

Megan Khang can't convert her birdie putt to win the hole but fortunately her team-mate Lauren Coughlin acts as the backstop and gets the job done from even closer range.

Coughlin, who is yet to lose a Solheim Cup match since making her debut two years ago, has started in impressive fashion.

It's a beauty from Charley Hull. She should make birdie from there.

    1UP Stark/Grant v Khang/Coughlin (2)

Oh my word. Megan Khang plays a glorious approach into the third that runs up the green towards the back left pin and stops about six or seven feet past.

Her team-mate Lauren Coughlin gets a similar result with her iron shot in and all of a sudden Europe's slender early lead is under threat.

The balls of Linn Grant and Maja Stark are well outside that range.

Europe's Ciganda rescues half after dramatic final hole

Carlota Ciganda is back out in action in the final match of the day - and if it's anything like the final match of yesterday it could be an all-timer.

Ciganda pinched a half on the 18th last night to send the teams in level overnight, and you never know, that disappointment for Nelly Korda may have even carried over into today's defeat.

It's tough on rookie Julia Lopez Ramirez as she's not playing with Ciganda today, and in fact not playing at all today as Anna Nordqvist plugs in Celine Boutier instead to form a new partnership in the Solheim Cup.

This anchor American partnership is an intersting one as Jennifer Kupcho and rookie Lindy Duncan have a combined 0-3 record so far this week so go in search of their first points.

    Maguire/Nadaud v Zhang/Kim (12:35 BST)

Rose Zhang's opening drive flirts with the left of the fairway and rough and has a course marshal ducking for cover as her ball bounces just over his head.

Auston Kim also strays left but it's fine.

Now here comes Leona Maguire, who zings her ball up towards the fairway bunker but nicely just short and left of it although Nastasia Nadaud hooks hers miles wide.

    Hull/Woad v Noh/Lee A/S (1)

    Amy Boulden

Lottie Woad played nicely yesterday afternoon. She didn't quite have it this morning, but it is difficult when you're playing foursomes to get into the rhythm of things.

Different format but same result I'm afraid as both Lottie Woad and Charley Hull miss great birdie chances on the first.

Luckily for them they get away with it as Yealimi Noh misses a short one to win the hole. Noh uses the long putter, which I've never really been a fan of, you?

  18. Postpublished at 12:36 BST 12 September

    1UP Stark/Grant v Khang/Coughlin (2)

Europe keep their noses in front in the opening match with both Maja Stark and Lauren Coughlin unable to roll in mid-range birdie putts that might have given their sides the edge.

  19. 'Forget the past and try move forward'published at 12:30 BST 12 September

    Hull/Woad v Noh/Lee (12:20 BST)

Team USA captain Angela Stanford: "Well, we don't like being down. I think this afternoon is really important. It is going to be the toughest session.

"This is going to be a tough afternoon. Hopefully, they are up for it. We talked about this early in the week. You have got to look inward not outward.

"I have encouraged them to keep looking at their team-mates. Try forget the past and try move forward. We are not out of it, by any means."

  20. Bringing the noisepublished at 12:27 BST 12 September

    Hull/Woad v Noh/Lee

Both Lottie Woad and Charley Hull call for some crowd noise as they tee off - and both smack a driver down the left into a good position to attack this flag from.

Woad had a big grin on her face but Hull was all business. Make no mistake, these two will be gutted not to have won a point yet, and they'll be giving it everything this afternoon to make up for that.
