Team Europe's Esther Henseleit and Leona Maguire, speaking after their victory in the foursomes...

Esther on her chip shot on the 18th: "Luckily I had some slope to work with. I was just trying to make contact with it to be honest and get it up. The crowd was amazing today. They helped us with momentum on the back nine. It was a lot of fun, but it was a grind."

Maguire on her bunker shot on the 12th to set up a birdie: "I mean fairway bunkers are always tricky. That was a nice birdie to keep momentum going in our direction. We did a job at balancing each other out today. Little short game masterclass from Esther on 16 and 18. Proud of what we did today. We knew we weren't doing a whole lot wrong. We had to stay patient and keep giving ourselves chances."

  3. Saturday fourball pairingspublished at 11:20 BST 12 September

Well Charley Hull and Lottie Woad are going to be playing all five sessions for Europe.

Europe's top-ranked pair have collected half a point so far from three available to them and their 6&5 defeat by Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin earlier equalled the heaviest loss in foursomes in Solheim Cup history.

  5. Europe win session 3-1published at 11:20 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Henseleit beat Kupcho/Zhang 1UP

That is huge for Europe. A 3-1 foursomes win looked unlikely midway through that session but this Irish-German pair have fought and fought down this back nine.

    They were two down.

Esther Heinseleit's putter might have been cold earlier but her wedges have been red hot with exquisite efforts on 16 and 18.

  6. Europe win!published at 11:17 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Henseleit beat Kupcho/Zhang 1UP

Rose Zhang's chip on to the green is wayward.

    Europe snatch the point!

  7. Postpublished at 11:16 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Henseleit v Kupcho/Zhang A/S (17)

Esther Henseleit is first to play with the chip. Up a ridge, first bounce on the green and this is tracking nicely... tracking... tracking... oh... misses by six inches.

    That is a par conceded.

Rose Zhang needs to hole her pitch shot to halve the match.

  8. US mistakepublished at 11:14 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Henseleit v Kupcho/Zhang A/S (17)

Huge error by Rose Zhang. She thuds her shot from the bunker into the lip and the ball pops out a yard or two.

And it's still the Americans to play. Jen Kupcho can't reach the green in two, her effort pulling up a good 10 yards short of the green.

Over to you Leona Maguire. Perhaps a bit of adrenaline there? Her second shot lands on the green but skips off the back left and trundles into a run-off area.

    Pitch 'n' putt wins it.

  11. Advantage Europe?published at 11:07 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Henseleit v Kupcho/Zhang A/S (17)

Water, water everywhere... the 18th would strike the fear of anything into me. It looks not too dissimilar to the 17th at Carnoustie with a stream cutting across the landing area off the tee.

Esther Henseleit hits a baby draw down the left-hand side of the fairway.

Jennifer Kupcho's ball flies higher and heads right. No danger of water but there is a bunker over there... and the American's ball trickles into it.

  12. Who will nick this?published at 11:03 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Henseleit v Kupcho/Zhang A/S (17)

Leona Maguire's putt was so timid in fact that Esther Henseleit is deemed furthest away and first to putt for par.

The German has wobbled over a couple of these today. But not this one. Into the middle of the cup.

Jen Kupcho for the half... no dramas.

We head to 18 in the final match out on the course all tied.

  13. Postpublished at 11:00 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Henseleit v Kupcho/Zhang A/S (16)

Rose Zhang of Team United States looks onImage source, Getty Images

Rose Zhang is first to putt. She gives the ball a good thwack and it races across the green, zipping three, maybe four feet beyond the hole.

Leona Maguire to win the hole and guarantee a half point for Europe. Oof. A rare poor putt. No pace and her effort pulls up short.

Neither of these are being conceded. None of that 'I'll give you yours if you give me mine' type chat we have in our friendly games!

  14. Advantage Europe?published at 10:56 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Henseleit v Kupcho/Zhang A/S (16)

Jennifer Kupcho is a smidge closer than the European ball and has a perfect view of the green and hole.

But the American doesn't get all of that. "Go" shouts a hopeful US voice but the ball thuds into the green about 40 feet shy of its intended target.

  15. Postpublished at 10:54 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Henseleit v Kupcho/Zhang A/S (16)

Esther Henseleit is having a long conversation with her caddie before hitting this second shot. They agree a strategy and from about 170 yards she hits another belter into the heart of the green.

The ball releases up to around 20 feet and the way Leona Maguire has been putting...

    4&3 Rhodes/Nadaud v Kim/Lee (F)

Mimi Rhodes of Team Europe and Nastasia NadaudImage source, Getty Images

Team Europe's Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud, speaking after their foursomes victory...

Rhodes: "Anna [Nordqvist] has been telling us the first few holes to get up, and then it is a high percentage to win the match. Luckily, she [Nadaud] was rolling them at the start. A great day overall."I was just trying to stay focused and not think ahead. I have thought ahead in other moments and it hasn't worked out. I just knew either way we were going to win the match. Just stay calm and putt the ball on the line."

Nadaud: "After yesterday's win we both felt very comfortable. We didn't expect to play this morning foursomes. A great surprise.

"We played very sensible, loads of fairways and greens. It was a pretty good morning. We knew quite late [about their call-up to the Europe team]. We are good friends outside the course. We knew we might play together at some point!"

  17. Two holes of foursomes leftpublished at 10:51 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Henseleit v Kupcho/Zhang A/S (16)

The 17th is playing 403 yards this morning.

Leona Maguire has the honour and leaks her drive a little right, but stays on the fairway. Esther Henseleit might have a bit of a blind shot with trees between her and the green.

Rose Zhang powers her effort down the middle.

  18. Match two going all the waypublished at 10:45 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Henseleit v Kupcho/Zhang A/S (16)

Rose Zhang judges her putt to almost perfection. The pace is excellent, the line a foot off. Par for the Americans.

Big chance for Leona Maguire to get this match back on an even keel.

The Irishwoman is studying this from every angle. She knows. It's more five feet than four. It doesn't matter. Another big fist pump. Another huge putt from Maguire.

This match is going all the way.

Jennifer Kupcho is out with a wedge on the 16th, clipping the ball onto the green. She definitely doesn't want to be short with the water waiting, but then she definitely didn't want to be that long either.

Esther Henseleit is coming from almost behind a stand, about 4 yards from the hole and aiming way right of the flag. "Go, go, go" urges her caddie as the ball lands in the perfect spot and feeds down towards the hole.

Rose Zhang facing a 30-footer down a ridge. Leona Maguire will have a four-footer up the hill.

  20. Rookies win again!published at 10:41 BST 12 September

    4&3 Rhodes/Nadaud v Kim/Lee (F)

What a wonderful pairing rookies Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud have prvoed to be, as they complete a brilliant 4&3 victory over Andrea Lee and American rookie Auston Kim.

The young duo led from the very first hole and stayed in front all the way, allowing the USA to win just two holes all match as in the end it was a bit of a cruise to a blue point.

    Same again this afternoon?
