  1. 'I don't think people understand' - Nordqvistpublished at 12:25 BST 12 September

Team Europe captain Anna Nordqvist: "It is just getting better and better. You can't really beat this atmosphere on the first. I don't think I have experienced anything like this. Very proud of the girls. You can't really ask for more.

"Team USA played unbelievable in the final match. Charley and Lottie played really solid. Really proud and it is nice to see Esther [Henseleit] and Leona [Maguire] show who they are and bring that out. The spirit is high. We're all very excited about this afternoon."

On choosing Charley Hull and Lottie Woad to play again this afternoon: "No, I don't think people understand - these are the best players in the world. Lottie, herself, made six birdies in the afternoon [yesterday]. They are playing solid."

On Nanna Koerstz Madsen not playing today: "Nanna played all day yesterday. It is a long week. We need everything we have got tomorrow."

Unbelievable that Hull is playing, even USA haven given Korda a rest and she is playing well. Hull is playing badly. Cups are won and lost on these decisions.

No, it's not Elvis or Evel Knievel. It is in fact Team USA player Angel Yin in fancy dress on the first tee.

We'd love to get your thoughts on this one....

Oh my.... Once bounce and in! Incredible. What an opening hole this is.

That is what is so exciting about match play. The Americans probably thought 'we have got them here'. Then Maja Stark goes and does that.

  5. Match two - can big guns finally fire?published at 12:18 BST 12 September

    Hull/Woad v Noh/Lee (12:20 BST)

No doubt that Charley Hull and Lottie Woad are the big story of this afternoon as Anna Nordqvist keeps the faith and sends them out for a fourth time - meaning they'll play all five matches this week.

It's kind of a no-win situation for Nordqvist, as their confidence could well have taken a hit if she'd dropped them when the plan was for them to play all five - but if they come up empty handed again this afternoon that won't exactly help them.

And the captain will take the flak if it all ends up going pear shaped - but they are both top-10 players in the world and Europe's best players, so surely they'll find some form sooner or later.

This match could also be huge for tomorrow's singles too, as if they can manage to get a result Hull and Woad will go bouncing into Sunday and be very hard to beat.

  6. Stark chips in on opening holepublished at 12:17 BST 12 September

    1UP Stark/Grant v Khang/Coughlin (1)

Wow. Lauren Coughlin is dialled in with her approach to a foot but Maja Stark sees that and raises it chipping in for eagle from around 80 yards.

Her ball takes two bounces on the green and disappears into the cup.

That's the way to win the first hole.

    Stark/Grant v Khang/Coughlin (12:05 BST)

Maja Stark and Lauren Coughlin both give each other playful nudges on the first tee.

It's all lots of fun down there. Anyone else miss the Ballesteros v Azinger icy-stare type vibes from back in the day in the Ryder Cup?

The first three tee shots find the fairway with no bother and Linn Grant then nudges one left, albeit that could open up the approach to the pin for her nicely if she has a decent lie.

  8. 'Hull and Woad have to deliver'published at 12:08 BST 12 September

    Hull/Woad v Noh/Lee (12:20 BST)

    Iain Carter

A massive call to retain the faith in those two English women.

Charley Hull and Lottie Woad really have to deliver.

  9. 'Surprised by some the pairings'published at 12:07 BST 12 September

    Amy Boulden

I'm surprised by some the pairings from both sides.

It is going to be an interesting match-up to see how they play out.

Clever or risky by both captains, but with fourballs you can just go out and play your own game, so it's a good rehearsal for tomorrow. Europe need Hull and Woad to play themselves in, but are we worried Hull's back might not fully survive five rounds?

    Stark/Grant v Khang/Coughlin (12:05 BST)

Maja Stark looks in party mood as she steps on to the first tee with Linn Grant.

And Megan Khang is very much the firestarter for the United States. Angela Stanford will hope that Khang's partnership with Lauren Coughlin will help the US get this fourballs session under way in style.

Well we have a lot of intriguing pairings this afternoon.

From a European perspective, the all-Spanish duo of Carlota Ciganda and Julia Lopez Ramirez has gone, the rookie partnership of Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud has been split and Charley Hull and Lottie Woad go out again.

There are some very unfamiliar pairings for the United States as well.

We will know soon enough whether Anna Nordqvist or Angela Stanford have got this right.

It's been a fine morning for Team Europe and their fans at the Bernardus Golf Course.

Foursomes, ticked off. Fourballs, coming up.

Can Team Europe extend their two-point lead? Or will Team USA provide a comeback push?

I'm no expert, but how many of you would would put Hull and Woad out this afternoon after losing 6&5?

    Stephen, Kellington

Awful captaincy putting Woad and Hull together. It clearly does not work, yet Anna Nordqvist persists with them together. If Europe get beaten by one or two points, then the blame is on the captain.

  16. Watch Ciganda's epic finishpublished at 11:51 BST 12 September

Not long until the fourball matches get under way.

And with that in mind let's take a look at the dramatic conclusion on Friday.

Europe's Carlota Ciganda was never in the crucial 18th hole of the final match yesterday evening, but she managed to play a magic chip and sink a wonderful pressure putt to pinch what could be a crucial half.

    Solheim Cup

Hull and Woad are just not at the races. It often happens to good pairings on paper even in the Ryder cup. Split them up!

    John

I am absolutely shocked and bemused that Woad and Hull go again this afternoon and that Europe’s best pairing Rhodes and Nadaud sit it out.

    Mike, Staffordshire

Strange decision to play Hull and Woad again, but they need to pull their fingers out. One game can set them both up for tomorrow, but failure will question the decision.

    Michael, Liverpool

  18. Magical Maguirepublished at 11:43 BST 12 September

    Maguire/Henseleit beat Kupcho/Zhang 1UP

Leona Maguire has become the fastest player to reach 10 wins in Solheim Cup history today.

The Irish golfer is different gravy when it comes to the Solheim and has managed that feat in just 14 matches. Her record now is 10-3-1 and the previous mark was held by Nelly Korda and Dottie Pepper, who won for the 10th time after 15 matches.

  19. Solheim Cup results - always a close callpublished at 11:39 BST 12 September

    Solheim Cup

The USA are fighting back hard here, and it could be very close come the end of the day, but that's to be expected given how close Solheim Cups have been recently.

The Americans won by three last time out but Europe earned two slender wins in 2019 and 2021 before that epic tie in 2023 – meaning that the last four contests have been decided by a grand total of just SIX points.

By contrast, the last four Ryder Cups have been settled by 24 points, with wide margin home wins becoming a theme before Europe edged a thriller at Bethpage.

Funnily enough Andrew, (See 11:23 BST post) France's Nastasia Nadaud and England's Mimi Rhodes are the first rookie duo to win two matches at one Solheim Cup and their 4&3 win in the foursomes earlier equalled the largest margin of victory by a debutant duo in the alternate shot format.
